Anti-Fouling Wax

Has anyone tried Aurora VS721 Anti-Fouling wax. It apparently creates a slick surface that barnacles and little nasties can’t adhere to. I’m not going to bottom paint, but will likely leave the boat in the slip for a few weeks at a time.

I haven't tried the Aurora anti-fouling wax, but I did apply an anti-fouling ceramic coating from GlideCoat this spring to all the surfaces below the waterline. I have wet slipped our boat since the end of April and have not had any algae growth yet. The little bit of lite grime that has appeared around the waterline on the white stripe was easily removed with a wet rag with no staining left behind. The big test will be in July and August, as those are the warmest months when the algae is the fastest growing here in Ohio. So far I am very happy with the product.

It looks like Glidecoat was made mainly for props but it looks like it has separate applications for gel coat. I will look into this for the intakes, buckets and cobra jet steering parts. I already put the AR741 was on the bottom but maybe I’ll do a top coat with ceramic.

I used their Marine Ceramic Coating for the surfaces above the water line and their Underwater Antimicrobial Ceramic Coating for the surfaces below the waterline. This is a product that is only available through their Pro login on their website. I discovered the product through a discussion with them which resulted in them setting me up as one of their "Pro's" so that I could purchase it. It's a 2 part product that you will apply 2 coats to the underwater surfaces. The application process is very time consuming, but the results seem excellent so far. They told me it creates a very slick surface that some algae may adhere to at the dock, but will fall off once you get up to speed. They said it should last about 3 years. I ended up talking with the company President. He was very helpful and knowledgable.
