Charleston to HHI memorial day weekend may24-27 2019

Great trip, very easy. 1 large body to cross but can see other side. 1 semi long but not wide body to cross.

We still have a family trip planned in August. We were gonna put in up at the lock like always and just extend to HHI instead of stopping in Charleston. But, after talking about it last night, we are gonna put in down on the Ashley I think.

Anybody have a good boat ramp to use down there that allows overnight parking?

Thanks a ton. Looks great and convenient off the interstate too!

It's nice ramp. 1 "lane" but wide enough for 3 vehicles to be on it at once. Floating docks on each side of ramp. Not to steep and in good condition.

Is it salt or fresh water that far up the Ashley?

Probably mix but I'm not 100% it's really only a out 10-15min outside of downtown Charleston depending on cruise speed

Yeah, we aren't worried about the distance. We actually like it and are hoping for freshish water there to drop the boats (and trailers) into.

It is salt - I wouldn’t even call way up river from there brackish.

I mean... I emptied a water bottle into the river so it has some fresh in there somewhere... glad to have you on the boards.

You frequent that area?

Our trip is this weekend from Charleston to HHI! Really looking forward to it and thanks for all the help when we were planning this months ago!

Enjoy, love that trip

Where are you staying on HHI?

We rented a house on the water for the night.

EDIT: Just saw you're from that area. We are staying at:

211 Chechessee Rd
Okatie, SC 29909

What is a good place in Beaufort to stop for fuel? And is that the first fuel stop you get to after leaving Charleston?

If you need to refuel before Beaufort, you can go to Edisto Marina, just a bit off the intercoastal. If not, there is fuel
at the Downtown Marina in Beaufort and you go right by that on the way.

We hope to get out Saturday on our SeaDoo around lunchtime. So if you head toward HHI, check out the Freeport Marina on Dafuskie Island for lunch then head toward the sandbar on the May River. There is usually a good crowd at both and the tide is working for that schedule.
I have a Carolina blue RXT230 - usually with a cooler on the back. If I get out, I'll also look for y'all.

On your trip through Beaufort you will go right past the downtown Beaufort marina.. under bridge on the right side.

Should have plenty if fuel to get there if you start with a full tank
