Cold Feet, Depreciation, and Used Sales. Halp!!

OK Not sure if this will work but here are some charts I copied from Boating Mag. You can see the sound improvements have worked on the 24' boats. They are actually quieter than most I/O's

My 2014 212x might slightly drift if left alone in neutral because of engines, but it is not something I have noticed. I holding on to the boat in neutral at a dock seems to take no more effort than any other boat that size.

I think the much bigger drift issue is from wind. These boats have a shallow draft and no rudder, keel, or fins to hold provide any holding power in the water. With my Bimini top up the effects of the wind are quite noticeable. I am not sure how much the new keel on the 2015's mitigate this.

I'm not to worried about it I'm sure I'll get used to it thanks for the replies

2012 Regal 27' at 30 mph produces 82 dba
2014 Formula 29' at 3o mph produces 81 dba
2015 Yamaha 242 at 33 mph produces 80 dba (28mph = 77dba)

So I think Yamaha has the 2015 models down to comparable if not better levels. One reason I can't wait to test drive one with my wife!!!!!
@Julian: When you return from India, I hope so, also, for you & your Bride.
The "real world" results are better than "the numbers" indicate.
As Barbie says . "It's a THRILLING improvement !" (And we had a low-hour 2013 extensive WITH soundproofing done to it.)
Best Wishes, Mikey Lulejian - Lake Oconee, GA

Well fellow members, I carefully considered all your responses especially msavold with the extensive pricing research posted and want to thank you for that. I went ahead and signed for a leftover 2014 SX240 in black. While I considered a 2015, I couldn't justify the nearly $8k price difference. It just didnt seem worth it when $8k buys me another toy for the stable. I ordered the install of underwater lights which I splurged on and I'm sure I'll be buying more accessories as my delivery date of late May comes around. Thanks again for all your help and I'm excited to get in the water this summer.

@twentiesforever congratulations on your purchase! update you profile with your location and new boat info, late May will seem like a looooong time,

Congrats on the purchase.

congrats! Just curious, did you test drive any of them?

Unfortunately I did not test drive any since everything has been frozen solid up here. I did get to climb in and around them though. I'm sure anything newer with more power will be a very welcome change from my little old 18ft bowrider. Im sure every aspect of the experience will be vastly better outside of fuel consumption.

Congratulations! You will love it!

Congratulations! I know it is a big decision and hard to spend so much on a 'toy' but I, and my guess that most of us on the board, have had no regrets. Enjoy and welcome to the club!

Don't worry too much about no test drive, I bought my Yamaha without ever being in one, on the water or on land... and from 600 miles away from the dealer lol... Just based on the research I had done here and else where. Still very happy with my boat for the short period I've had it. Congrats on the purchase, now let's both hope for warm weather to get rid of the ice!
