I’m a really big fan of the connext system The interactive map is especially helpful to keep your boat in adequately deep water. I have a couple of observations, however. Knowing my bayou as well as I do pretty sure that once you go below a certain foot level say 2 feet 10 inches the depth registers as 2 feet and so on. Also, noted that fuel gauge percentage seems to be understated by a fair bit. Both times I have filled my tank I actually had 33% fuel when it was registering 15%. I definitely would want to err on the side of caution but I was interested to know if others have experienced the same with their readings.

First off, while salesmen always brag about the shallow drafts of jetboats, that's for floating only not when the engines are running. Yamaha recommends you operate the boat in 3 ft or more to avoid the intakes sucking up debris. It's like a vacuum cleaner under the boat. And you don't want to be operating in 2 feet as a big wake can easily cut the trough down a foot or running with the bow up and stern low, and you suddenly have only 12 inches and hit the bottom...no joy there.

I recently documented this on my boat as I was curious and didn't pay close attention last year - just kept it filled up. But when on plane, my fuel reading tends to be about 5% optimistic for the tank, but seems close to correct when floating and on the trailer. I verified by noting the difference and then filling several times to calculate capacity and the float/trailer level seems correct. For instance at 50% reading while trailered, my 50 gal tank took 25 gal to fill. There's supposed to be a 10% reserve or 5 gal so in theory if it reads 5% I should actually have 15% or 7.5 gal left. That part I won't verify as I have no intention of running it till it's empty.
