I ran out of the lube that came with my rtic soft coolers. I decided to use coconut oil from my kitchen knowing it it a great substitute for keg lube. It is food grade and has anti microbial properties. Works great, smells good, and something I always have on hand in the kitchen.

What do you use?

I bought an RTIC soft cooler for my folks. Ya, that zipper is bitch for sure. It's hard for them to road trip properly as it's hard enough to open with two strong hands.

The RTIC's and Yeti's are nice, but boy, those zippers are crazy.

I used Vaseline, and tried paraffin.

I use bowstring wax on my slide fasteners and snaps.

Wait....zipper lube is a thing?

I read the title and honestly had no idea what was inside, despite the (what I now see) very accurate title.

Who knew?!?

Same lol. Whaf other things have i not been lubing i should all this time!?

This is what @MidnightRider recommends for the plastic drain plug with those flimsy threads - works great!
It’s non-toxic(?), very nice lubricant for plastic:

Glycerin. The only trouble is it washes away with water, but a small jar is easy to keep around. Doesn’t stain, NSF certified, sweet to taste. For the other (non food safe) direction I use Lubriplate white grease. That stuff doesn’t wash off with anything.

I'm surprised no one suggested K-Y. Or Gun OIl.

Standard K-Y is just glycerin. In a pinch when we run out at a job site we send the newest guy to Walgreens on a K-Y run...there are some “hair products” that are also 100% glycerin.
