Dual battery charger.

Any chance you could take a picture of the setup to help me emulate and installation?
Will do it tonight when I get home.

This is my charger, ProMariner 2-bank mounted on a bulkhead of the engine bay.

Thanks all! Anyway to provide pictures or schematic showing where and what wire goes to which of the two batteries? @seanmclean shows a picture of the unit before they are connected to the batteries. Be great to understand which wires go to each battery. I hope this thread helps others too!

Each cable coming from the unit has red (positive) and black (negative) wires. Hook one cable to one battery and the other to the other battery and plug the unit to a 110v power source.

When installing on a vertical surface covered with carpet, are you placing spacers in between the carpet and the base of the unit?

I haven't. Done it twice now, no issues so far. ProMariner.
My unit is inside the engine bay, and the unit gets hot in there (not from charging, just sitting there during long runs).

Setting up a dual bank charger is nothing more than running the Positive and negative wires to the positive and negative posts on your pair of batteries. Then plug it into the cord coming off the backside of the thru-hull fitting. And done.

You will spend more time, crawling down in there to mount that charger as far back as possible, just to save space. As once it's mounted, you literally should have no reason to move it again. My charger is back out of reach, but yet when I plug a cord into the hull, I can still see a light shine back there to know my batteries are getting juice. That's all I care about.

If all else fails, the chargers come with basic diagrams as well for one and multiple battery installations. These direction pamphlets are available for download as well.

Good luck

I will try to take pics next time we take it out. she is wrapped up right now. Pretty simple set up and works great.

Cycle Springs in Clearwater installs this on most of their boats. I won't do the thru hull portion as an extension cord works just fine. This is a great two stage tender/charger.
Do those come with clamps as well? My boat will be going back and forth to storage where there is no power, so I'll be pulling the batteries out of the boat after every weekend. They'll be charged out of the boat in my garage on a bench.

Can you mount a solar panel to charge you battery? I did that and work great for 3 years. IMO, having to lug a battery around is too heavy and too much work.

It's indoors. So mounting a solar panel wouldn't work.

I have the same set up as well with charger and plug. I actually just ordered a 3 bank charger, so will have the ProMaster 2 bank up for sale soon.

I did install spacers. I think it was entirely unnecessary, but I believe the instructions stated that you should.

For folks that have a charger installed, do you turn batteries off when using? I’m paranoid and turn batteries off when we go to a restaurant by boat, or when I put on lift or just floating for a time. I have two batteries on 242LSE. On a previous boat I did have a battery die. Worst feeling. I would like to leave batteries on while on the lift and plugged into charger. Be nice not to lose the clock time.

That's a good question. I don't worry about it when I'm working on the boat. Doesn't seem to hurt anything. I too am paranoid about leaving batteries on when the boat is not is use. I installed little blue LED lights (6 total - 3/side), that are hooked to the battery switch, to tell if the batteries are on or off. Provides a visual aid for peace of mind.
Do you have deep cell batteries?

Only time my batteries are off is when its in the driveway. Batteries are on all season while in the slip and plugged in.

Not sure what type of batteries. Good idea about LED.
