Took the new to me 2018 AR210 out on the water today with just me and the wife. She used to like staying at home when it was the LS2000 but I told her how this would be comfortable, slow (much), and a great time out on the water to read a good book. It worked..... so much that when I was done she kept saying that we were already at the lake, we should stay awhile. She called my bluff like last year when I said we needed to sleep in the backyard in a tent to get ready for camping which I talk a lot about. I didn't last an hour on the hard ground and eventually had to convince her to go back in the house. She won that one
Today started bad with the maiden voyage. We launch the boat and she is 100% right about all of the things I should do but I follow my usual non-routine. She ties it up to the dock after we launch and I take the truck back to the parking lot. I get back to the dock, board the boat, and then notice while untying the boat that the bilge is spitting out at full volume. I open the engine hatch to see what is going on and there is no water but the bilge is running. I think about it and then realize.... $&*##@, the plug! I jump in the water and try to find the drain plug. I get it pretty quickly but this has been taking on water since I went to park the boat. Chalk one up to Yami on the new, always-on Bilge! Never any water in the engine compartment and disaster avoided outside of my wife talking about it. She turns to be after the "event" and says, "where is your wallet, your phone, and the car keys" as I am dripping wet.... I tap my pockets knowing what is about to happen but surprisingly they are all in my pockets. Chalk one up to Apple on the waterproof phone, Acura on the waterproof keyfob, and not so much to anyone for my wallet.
The rest of the trip couldn't have gone any better. The AR210 is perfect and I think my wife is converted. My Acura MDX tows it great, the hull handles chop, the engines are the right blend of speed/power/weight (towing with the MDX), noise is reduced, and the space is ridiculous. The improvements that I see in the caulking, sound deadening, and design are headed in the right direction. This is such a great boat
It's funny that a few of my neighbors, family, and friends saw my new boat and asked "what is different from the other boat". Is it faster? NO. It's white with some color like your other boat.. YES. Why did you get a new boat? I honestly can't answer this stupid question or better yet, my answer is probably stupid....
I do have one issue with throttle "shake" so I need to figure that out - more on that in a minute
