Florida keys

That place was/is owned by an old friend of my Tony N. nice little place to kick back and enjoy the Keys Life.

What a small world "I know you know", my wife's grandfather owned one of the places there along with Tony. I believe he sold it to Tony when he retired and moved out of state. I stayed there while he still owned it and loved it. Sadly haven't been back to stay there since.

I've been eye balling islamarada. Looks awesome. But wondering what else is out there.

What so you want to do?

Sombrero reef
Alligator red
Looe key nature preserve
Bahia honda state park
Day trip to key west
John pennekamp state park (kayak/paddle mangroves, dive/snorkel christ statue)
Tons of wrecks to fish
Beaches a plenty.

Thst just a few

All of that is accessible middle keys on 1 ta k of gas

Be careful of the sudden stops due to hidden sand bars and shifting sands. I experienced it quite a few times, sudden depth changes from 5-6 feet to 1-1.5 feet.

Don’t forget Mud Key, Snipes point, and or Marvin Key on the Gulf side
Also check out Marker 88 as a boat up Bar & Grill

Middle Keys is way better than Key West for boating, snorkeling, and fishing. Key West is for drinking at bars, shopping, and people watching. Middle Keys is for everything water and Islamorada is well boater's party heaven.

Was plotting destinations and saw it went from 9ft to 1ft within 40ft.

Yeah. You will also know about it when your boat slows down suddenly even though you are a quarter mile away from the shore. I experienced it :)

Marker 88 is at mile marker 88 on the Gulf side spicificaly Plantation Key. There is a YouTube vid or two about it. Snipes and Mud Key are West in a row of Marvin Key. mud Key has channels to explore if you like that. Again tons of YouTube videos on them.

You "MUST" keep your eyes on the road (so to speak) at all times when running anywhere in the Keys, you will be able to see patches of blades of grass sticking out of the water, Tell Tell sign that a drastic change in depth is coming, we spend all summer in the Keys every year so we are used to it. Good thing is you own a Jet Powered boat so your drag is sooo much less than someone with an OB. Enjoy!!!

BTW Marker 88 is off Mile Marker 88 on the Bay Side, GREAT food and Sunset.

What are some other good Boat up to Bar and Grills you’ve come to enjoy?

The more we talk about our Key West vacation in June, the more I want to bring a boat and meet everyone there regardless of how they get there, and the more strange looks I get. What's the point of being surrounded by water If I cant boat on it? I finally cracked yesterday and after I was done ranting for a few minutes, my wife flatly says "You sound like Seinfeld doing a bit about being stranded on Gilligans Island. We're not taking the boat! "

Uhhhhhh I digress....

Keep you eyes on the target.
Based on what you described she is getting emotional about it. That is far better that a calm & cold blooded "NO". You just need to persist.
Let me take a wild guess, she likes Seinfeld, right ?

You have just as much right to put your foot down and say OH Yes We ARE taking the boat!
