You know that when @JROD is riding the ski he wears one of those shirts that says if you can read this that means she fell off!
@robert843 , Amazing! U must be psychic? ;-) I did have a shirt like that, but I was told the dryer burned it up.
Is all OK, I used another similar "I DON'T LIKE TO LISTEN" Pink shirt, not mine just in case anyone may get confused by my accent, for waxing my jet skis. She's still looking for it. ;-)

I assume this is in reply to how my kids have grown up so fast ;)

Exactly! Your family is amazing, your kids get older and you guys (Barb and Justason) get younger.... what is your secret??

The new manager of Bimini Sands is the owner of the largest grocery chain in the Bahamas. Several condo owners mentioned the plan for a large South Bimini grocery store last year.

@waterboy I know Hawaii is calling but Bimini is going to miss you!

@Bruce It's not completely off the table yet, I'm trying...

ya ! trying to manage damage control !!... don't worry...we have an empty wing at our bunker for ya !!
and @RobA the secret is we learned to suck the lives out of them instead of the typical polar opposite.... bad decisions, repression, organ harvesting.....all the good qualities of a parent..

in the words of Hank Moody "Is this wrong? I can't tell anymore? "

My calendar if fairly locked for this Summer's opportunity to make the Bimini run. This group's history of making this run and the documentation of lessons learned, has inspired my own devotion to allowing my family to experience the adventure. Our reality is that we are locked into a national Volleyball tournament 18-22 June in Orlando, FL, and will be making this trip before that event.
Current best guess is that we will make the trip in the 10-16 June, time window.
I have spent 100's of hours on the Atlantic on personal sailing and motorized vessels and 1000's of hours on the Pacific on Naval vessels.
We would love to be part of the larger jetboaters trip, but our schedule does not allow too much flexibility, this year (kids! ;-)
If this window works for you, and becomes outside the larger groups time window, give me a kick and we can coordinate a minor crossing and adventure, with a majority of the safety and social benefit of not going at it alone.
More to follow as schedules solidify-
Godspeed and Semper Fidelis,
Glen (and Sharlun crew)

@Glen that is awesome sir enjoy! I'm sure you may get a few who are interested and that's all this trip takes. You will want to try and book lodging this week as bimini sands is already completely booked the 10th-13th. If for some reason no one joins you I know there is a group of 75 jet skies crossing on the 10th so if you want let me know I could call my friend and get their launch location and time if you like.

@Glen, I suggest that you reconsider June 10 to 16. Three large groups will be in Bimini between June 10 and 18th. They will consume everything the islands have to offer. You would be better off going after the volleyball tournament.

It is possible that you might not even be able to find fuel for your return to the US.

@Bruce - Love the added precautions and registration process!

As an update I am still negotiating with Bimini Sands for dates and rates. Hopefully their next email will confirm that they are willing to offer the same discounted rates as last year.

The best information I have is that three large groups will visit Bimini between June 10th and 18th. I have asked Bimini Sands when they will refuel their marina after the 18th. In 2014 both Bimini fuel docks and the marina at Cat Cay ran out of fuel two days before our arrival and were not refueled until the evening of the second day of our trip. There simply was no fuel available in Bimini for anyone. This limited our activities for the first two days. I do not want to repeat this experience.

If Bimini Sands will guarantee to have fuel available for us then I believe that the dates of June 20 to 25th will be a good option. Some of us may want to stay longer but I would not recommend anyone going earlier due to the likely fuel situation.

Many of you have listed 0 children or explained that your children were comfortable with the ocean. I do not want you to think that I am discouraging children on the trip. Our kids love it. Every child I know of who has made the trip has made wonderful lifetime memories. My experience is the the kids handle the trip better than many adults even if the crossings are rough. This is my Daughters Essay on her trip in 2014 https://jetboaters.net/threads/emmas-bimini-2014-essay.4449/ .

The Bimini Superfast Ferry has cancelled services between Miami and Bimini. http://www.miamiherald.com/living/travel/article53682340.html
This may be a good thing for us and certainly is a good thing for the North Bimini Reefs. The Superfast's service was designed to only be a ferry to Resorts World and make it difficult to catch a ride for other purposes. The airlines that fly between Florida and Bimini are increasing frequency of their flights which end near Bimini Sands at the airport on South Bimini. Over the longer term it is planned that the Superfast will be replaced by smaller ferries. Both of these other options are likely to be better for our friends and family who may use them.

@Nathan_85 do your self a favor and book it and go. It will be the best vacation you and your family ever have been on it will be something you kids remember forever. You cant put a price tag on something like that. Best example ask one of your kids what the got for Christmas 2 or 3 years ago likely the won't remember then two or three years after this trip ask them about it and they will remember the whole thing.
You are right, this would be something the will never forget!
