Killing yer starting battery, Let be real about this.....

Again reverting back to my rhino it didn't care that the stator was out, Still ran fine, it just didn't charge the battery.

How long will it take to kill yer average filly charged battery using my XM radio
Power Requirements:9-16 V DC, 500 mA (max)

Curious if he has gone through any stators or rectifiers.
Don't know...but he did have a catastrophic failure of the engine that the alternator was mounted on. I don't remember if he installed it on the replacement engine or not.

Also, up the thread, someone mentions motorcycle batteries. These boats are spec'ed for a Group 24, 675 Cold Cranking Amps, 100 amp capacity, and that is not a motorcycle battery, even if the engine evolved from a motorcycle.

I dont think this boat with the same 1.8 that I have is carrying a Group 24 battery for starting

I wrecked a waverunner battery by leaving it in the head compartment for a season because I was using it to jump start my boat. Found it was cheaper to buy a battery box. Had the seats off one of those at the dealer the other day to try to show him the new oil cooler. There is nothing but engine under that seat, no idea where they hide the battery in those things.

That was me mentioning motorcycle batteries and my point was that we have a lot more capacity to cause voltage drop when hooked to a running car than a motorcycle configuration would, assuming the battery will take the charge.

I am more interested in hearing about the experience with the car alternator. It sounds like he had twin engines. It would be interesting to hear if he had any electrical problems with either engine.
