The Season up north is coming to an end and I have started seeing the number of boats for sale increase ALOT.

I thought it might be a good Idea to have a place for people to post up Boats for sale that they see locally that may help our members out. Since this isn't Technically for sale I didn't want to put this in the classifieds. If this is the incorrect place please move it.
I'm limiting my contribution to Yamaha Jet boats

Here is what jet boats I found today in NJ.
2018 AR242X E 2018 Yamaha 242X E-Series Jet Boat This one has been up a while
2018 AR195 2018 Yamaha AR195
2019 AR240 2019 Yamaha AR240
2012 SX192 2013 Yamaha sx192
2014 AR192 2014 Yamaha Ar192
2020 AR195S 2020 Yamaha 195S This one is an old AD and over priced

LOVE this. Julian you cool?

Who is spending $55k on the 19. You have to have giant balls to expect 55 when new is 61.

I didn't say they were good deals but at least members can see what's out there. It may be a good way to track the price bubble and when the trend shows pricing coming down.

But if you can't get one then you can't get one so the price goes up. Don't really need a set to see that. Once dealers have inventory in their showrooms those prices gonna drop 5-10% more on used.

No of course not. I love your plan here. I’m making 2 points, Yamahas hold their value like Wranglers and people who are selling used Yamahas are on crack. :)

When supply trends to zero, price trends to infinity! Value is fueled by scarcity of supply vs. demand This is what makes clean water cheap and platinum expensive. applies to boats too! there are fools everywhere, and whoever catches one, gets to keep him. (poor translated saying common in Latin America..something like a fool and his money are soon parted.) But can't hurt to try finding the right buyer if you have a boat with great self esteem, and you are not in a hurry to sell.

In the end, if buyer and seller are in agreement to exchange, that's the price.

My first boss in the business said it best when talking to a customer about pricing.

Customer: You must think Im an idiot!!

Boss: No ma'am not at all...but if you were I sure didnt want to miss ya.

Don't get me wrong, I will get as much for my boat as I can if I sell it, possibly this winter or spring. But I do have some internal process that doesn't allow me to take advantage of people, which I have been told. I would rather a family have a great well maintained boat and a price where I am happy and they are happy without gouging them, which is fair. But I guess that is all relative.

I’m the same. I’m a car guy and like all car guys, I buy and sell wheels constantly. If a guy rolls up to my driveway and is looking like a hard working brother, I discount what I got. And I always ask if the person is police or a vet. I once mailed Cummins diesel dash gauges ($500) to a young man who just returned from the Middle East for free. I sold my truck, they were sitting around for six months, and the kid seemed like a great guy. Pay that shit forward :)

So what I’d like to know:
if a 21 ar250 can be had for $61,500
whats the highest price you’d pay for:
2018 50 hours good condition
2016 80 hours good condition

me the 18 for $40k
The 16 no interest at any price

What would you have against a good 2016 to have zero interest? The $50 for the one here is certainly high but I bet he ends up getting well over $40. Hell I'd buy it for $40.

Don't forget to take into consideration all the different mods/add-ons one buyer has verse the other when pricing.

Sounds like someone is seriously underestimating the market right now. I stopped in a dealer yesterday thinking I’d see some CC’s there, place looked like a freaking ghost town. I asked the salesman if they were going out of business. He chuckled but said “If we don’t get more inventory we might”. Obviously that was hyperbole but still, this is a place that sells $200,000 Malibu ski boats, $150,000 Bennington pontoons, and Robalo center consoles.

Something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay.....

If there is someone willing to pay “X” for “Y”, than that is the market.

Me? I am not going to pay 90-99% of what retail is for a brand new boat for a used boat....ever (that might mean I just continue to rent and hold myself to 2-3 times out on the water per season vs. the once a week I would do if I owned/if the market doesn’t swing back next spring),

I do have to laugh when I see an ad for a 2015 SX190 for sale for $25K and it says “no low ballers please”......OK

Or a 2019 AR210 for $45K....wow, a 2 year old used boat and I can save a whopping $999.00....

I’m seeing Glastron 207’s with 250hp rotax up for $30k-plus (2017/2018) and as I recall they couldn’t give those away when they were new.....

The good news in all of this is it seems the dealers have all been cleared out of their leftover inventory, so at least they are not paying floorplan (interest) on stuff collecting dust...though that also means no great “steals” on non-currents next spring at boat shows (assuming they happen)...

Because saving $20k on a 5 yo boat is not a good value TO ME. There’s a X-55 for sale on BT for $55k and I’ve called the guy endlessly cause it’s a killer value (and probably a scam) he only returned my call once.
Its not the final number for me, it’s the perceived value. In the interest of educating us, wouldn’t it be fantastic if those on here selling Yamahas shared the price they actually get? Too prideful I’m sure :)

My thought process is at minimum I will not pay more than 10% of depreciation per year from the current msrp.

so if the boat was 60k Msrp new and it’s now 2 years old. The most id consider paying is 48k used.

when looking at wake boats that usually sell for 10-20% of sticker then I adjust for the normal discount given at sale

I did the same for my RV that I bought used.

@ourlee i would love to see actual sales price. Asking price is just a number on a dart board usually.

I won’t disclose my final sale price out of respect for the buyer who is a member here, but my pride was not damaged by the sale of my boat. I listed it at a fair price and the seller bought the only used 210FSH I’ve seen advertised for sale lately here or on BT. The market has been crazy this year, supply/demand cares little for people’s personal opinions, and this year there’s someone right behind you waiting to stroke a check.
