Hey everybody, I just bought my first boat (2018 Yamaha AR195) and need to fix a few minor tears in the vinyl. I've searched the forum but I don't think I've found what I need.

If going the DIY route, what type of repair kit do I need? I got a quote from Fibrenew of $500-$600 for three repairs. This seems pretty high for what it is, so I'm more inclined to pursue the DIY route. Any tips or thread links would be greatly appreciated!

I used this company several years back to repair a similar type tear in my truck. When they finished, you could not tell it was ever ripped! I think at that time it was around $100 and they came to my home to do the repair. Not sure if they are in your area, but worth checking out.

Good luck!

I have two tears in the backrests of my seats due to the wake tower accidentally falling down on it and puncturing them. Damn old school system and miscommunication. I took the seats to 3 different places with quotes ranging from $500-$700. And this was all based on whether or not they could find the material (they couldn't). Turns out I was able to buy the OEM backrests, brand new, cheaper than any of the quotes after google searching. Might be worth pricing out new cushions as an option and keep these as back ups if you get another tear.

I purchased a boat used the previous owners cat got in and put claw marks they were very faint but over time got larger. Using a vinyl repair kit I touched them up they looked good for 3 years then started to not look so great. I should have purchased new cushions but I kept the boat for 15 years this was after about 10 years with a touch somewhere along the line.
