JetBoaters.net Bimini Fling July 9th to 14th 2018

@Gofish206 what were your thoughts of staying over at Resort World this year?

Being my first time in Bimini I have nothing to compare to but over all was an enjoyable experience. The amenities were great and not once did we get bit by any bugs around the RW area. The marina cost was a little steep and not having fuel there was a slight inconvenience. Also staying in a hotel room doesn’t allow you to cook or have much room for food storage. The slow wake zone was also a drawback. Water pressure, AC and onsite dining and multiple pools were top notch and Ice machines were also a plus. Casino was nice even won a couple free tanks of fuel the night I played. I personally would only stay there if your a preferred Hilton member and your using points for your stay. Next time I’m going to try and find a house with dockage on vrbo in south Bimini.

We had a couple 19 Footers come with us this year.
We had pretty nice weather for it too.
My 212ss had a bit of a rough return.
The low windshield didn't help. Trim tabs would have helped.
I did great on fuel.

Any comments /feedback from the boats who crossed this year that were 19' units? Not sure if next year will happen but more so looking like 2020 would be the year for us; but I'd like any feedback from the smaller boats who made the trip. Thanks
I wouldn't hesitate to take a 190 across again. But be prepared. Prepared to take a beating on the crossing, pack light, bring extra fuel. Plan to get wet. And a fixed VHF is a must. There could be points where your 190 can't keep up with the pack but at least you could stay in contact with them. Also be prepared to answer the question "you crossed over in that?!?!". If there was only one reason I miss my 190 it would be to tell everyone that I went to the Bahamas on a 19" boat...

Ha, the customs agent even cracked a joke on me, when he asked what kind of boat we crossed he stopped and called it a 19 foot JetSki...

Then there was this guy next to me in the slip at Bahia mar who looked at me like I was crazy when we told him where we were going so early...

like Betik said we were running over 30mph which kills my mpg, if we stayed around 25 I probably would have been fine and not needed a refuel. It was hard not to throttle up once the island was in sight. We kept our load light with it being just me and my wife. We shared a luggage bag, had a small yeti for food, and carried 24 gallons of extra fuel which was a lot of the weight... looking back I probably would bring 12 gallons next time and pack more food.

After all the stops and given the nice weather, we did get a bit throttle happy :D

On a day like this year, I would agree with 12 gallons, but I think you need to plan for a 2017 crossing.

Didn't we have a 19ft Scarab go this year or was it a 21 ft glasstron?

it was the Glasstron. And boy didn't I see its entire hull airborne more than once......

@AbuAyd can probably chime in

I think that Glastron was a pretty sexy looking boat.

Here it is, take it easy on me, it was my first edit... would only let me post 720p I guess because there was some cell phone video in there? I think its time to upgrade.

@Andy S I feel like we started a trend this year I have never seen any of the jetboaters crew go to Great Isaac's and several followed after we did in the June trip and I didn't realize the July crew went as well.

Prior to this year, in all my trips over I have only known one group to make it up to Great Isaac's and that was back in 2014. But like we have said, the cool kids went in June and the July crews just wanted to be like the June cool kids.

That is an awesome video! Very well done!

I remember @upperdeck and @tim h heading up to Great Isaac’s to fish on previous trip(s).

I may have been the only boat not to make it up there in July.

We went south instead
