JetBoaters.net Bimini Fling July 9th to 14th 2018

A lot of the vrbo have golf carts... Can drive down to the sands pool and then back. Hopefully the sands will spring back but there seems to be a lot of downward pressure as reported by bruce and others...

Had 2 condos. 1 for the saturday/sunday since we crossed early. 10F i believe. Rust along side of fridge, mini fridge that didn't run, couldn't find remote to tv and had no thing but bunny ears that didn't pick anything up.
The loft was up a pvc ladder.
The rest of the week was in 7Q. Wonderful!
Cable tv. Stereo hooked up.
Dvd player and a stash of kids dvds.
Nice stairway to upstairs with it's own bathroom.
Big nice bed for us as well.
I mean even the magazines were spread out in a pretty way etc. I felt as though the owner had prepped it herself.
Lady m we believe ownes it as that was part of the password.
Netflix login on roku tv was stored.
Some magazines in french.
Nice decor.
Will certainly request that room again if we get to do the trip again.

$289/night for 1 Bedroom with loft, 2 full baths, full kitchen, full living room, washer/dryer and big balcony to me is a great deal. Ours was in great shape except the rust on the front of the freezer door (we didn't care). No way I'd find a hotel with all that for $289/night. The Hilton is $161/night for one room, no kitchen etc., so effectively $320/night for your typical Hilton 2 hotel rooms. Their docks are more expensive too. Gonna have to keep an eye on how the Sands situation progresses!

We stayed in this home back in 2011. Easily accommodated our 4 couples (my fuzzy recollection is that each bedroom has its own bath) and the owner was easy to deal with.

It was nice having the boat tied up right at the house and you could easily put 3 of our boats there.

They would actually have to be in attendance. Other than going into the office, I never saw staff at the pool or pretty much anywhere else for that matter. Although we did pay one cleaning lady to make sure our place was kept in tip top shape daily.

I believe there have been incidents of security tossing non guests. I would expect any such act not be the norm but to be a vindictive act.

@Gofish206 what were your thoughts of staying over at Resort World this year?

Did you add in what ever they feel like charging for a dock that day?

Any comments /feedback from the boats who crossed this year that were 19' units? Not sure if next year will happen but more so looking like 2020 would be the year for us; but I'd like any feedback from the smaller boats who made the trip. Thanks

It can be done but you are going to bounce more than 24 footers. @swatski & @ThatJeepGuy crossed on 19' and the following year they got 24'. In 2018 we had a 192 that crossed with us. He run out of fuel 500 yards from Bimini Sands, but we were doing 30mph on most of the trip.

I think the most telling is that in 2017 a 190 FSH made it . The only reported issue is the kill switch on the clean out was cutting the engine off. The captain said that after the 20th time it become a routine to point where he will be under in less than 2 seconds from off to going again.

@STEVE garman crossed in one.

I remember Christian & Anastasia Grey crossed on Stealing Time. I think @D3nN1s right ?

I can kinda understand that though because you don't want anybody with a boat showing up from Miami and just swimming in the pool no matter where they're staying.

Yea we did it this year in our ar192, the crossing there was smooth and our fuel light came on about 5 miles out, made it to the sands with probably 1/2 what I had when the light came on, I fueled up just to be safe so I didn’t run out of gas trying to dock... like Betik said we were running over 30mph which kills my mpg, if we stayed around 25 I probably would have been fine and not needed a refuel. It was hard not to throttle up once the island was in sight. We kept our load light with it being just me and my wife. We shared a luggage bag, had a small yeti for food, and carried 24 gallons of extra fuel which was a lot of the weight... looking back I probably would bring 12 gallons next time and pack more food.

With that being said the ride over was enjoyable due to the excitement of getting there and the conditions being smooth, the ride back not so much, we probably had 2 foot seas sometime 3 foot and took a beating coming home. We were soaked from head to toe with spray coming over the front every other wave and of course coming home isn’t fun as there is not much to look forward to besides dry land, lol

Even with the rough water home I refueled about 5 miles from ft Lauderdale, just so I didn’t have to deal with it in the inlet. It was an incredible trip and we are already counting the days till the next time we can go. The key is to keep your departure date flexible for weather conditions...

We are putting a video together but it’s already 45 minutes long lol, got a lot of cutting out to do...
