Bought my AR190 lightly used last spring. This fall, after my first season using it, I was putting it away for the winter and I found these stashed away behind the battery. Any idea what they are? They're solid aluminum. I'm thinking they're related to factory shipping and I can toss them in the recycling bin but thought maybe I ought to throw this question out there before I did so.MysteryParts.jpg

If you have a collapsible tower, they are the brackets that kept tower locked in the down position when shipped, most likely

Yup those are the tower locking brackets used for when your boat was shipping from the factory to the dealer. Most dealers chunk them. If you're going to toss them I'll take them.

If you lower your tower for storage you should be using these to support it.

Nah that's what the cables are for. These brackets would be overkill for storage. My tower stays lowered all the time in my garage. These brackets prevent the towers from banging around and allows them to stack boats on top of boats on the transport trailers.

I've heard of those cables stretching and snapping over time. Why risk it? Takes 5 minutes to put on for added support. There are also posts on here with people having the cables pull out.

I've never heard of a tower cable breaking on these boats while sitting in a garage. Bouncing and breaking from falling tower in rough water is another story. Can you show me the thread of this happening? I just don't see it being the case as probably 99% of the dealers toss these and the owners never even know of them much less get them. Even if mine were to snap at most it would drop less than a 1/2" before touching the steering wheel since I modded my cable to have extensions.

My cables snapped - but that was when my tower collapsed violently. I think those are fine for general storage, to hold the tower hovering above the hull cap, kind of perfect.
