Need a new Tow Vehicle as Audi will be buying back my Q7 TDI --what do you have?

I did enjoy the more minimalist approach of the Audi interior to that of the new Dodge. Also, in terms of user interface, I find UConnect to be nearly unusable, only thing worse is Toyotas Entune.

The lack of touchscreen in Audi is such an oversight. The touch sensitive pad or knob, depending on model works very well - but sometimes it'd be much, MUCH easier just to tap on the icon you want. I expect that to change soon, IMO.

Then your best bet is to turn it in for the insane amount they are offering and use the money to buy a 2015 Q7!

Most likely the best outcome for me. I am significantly less concerned with the tech, frankly, I am a lot more motivated by the drive train capability. Those TDIs are just amazing, how they pull and all.

I would certainly go Durango (or GC if it had 3rd row) - if they offered it with a diesel!!! Ford is bringing one (shared with Rovers) but likely only into pickups.

Well the Durango does have an SRT version... maybe not as good gas mileage but you can get to the boat ramp in half the time lol!

Germans are nothing if not arrogant! This one is actually out of an A6. Same basic motor was used in s4, rs4, a6, a8, q7, and Touareg. And they all had timing chain woes.

You had the fisher price "I can't afford a real q7, so here's a watered down version" version. Seriously. They stripped them all the way down, and jammed the anemic 2.0T in there, so there'd be an "affordable" version. I'm very surprised they'd give those out as loaners, as that ain't gonna convince anyone to buy one. As for virtual cockpit, it's available in every model now I think except maybe a3.

It did have Apple Car Play which was nice I will get that in my next car. It also had lane assist which I will not or get in my next car or hopefully find a way to turn it off as every time I was switching lanes the car would try and pull back to the other lane kind of annoying. @swatski you could always do the best of both worlds you could take that money and buy a 2012-14 Navigator or Escalade for about $20K and then buy a q5 TDI for you everyday driver. Now imagine how much you enjoy driving you Q7 tdi now shave 1000 lbs off it give it a shorter wheel base but the same horse power and torque the Q5 tdi is just silly it has a 0-60 time almost 3 seconds faster then the q7. Plus I just happen to know of a 2104 Q5 TDI with 48,000 miles that will be for sale shortly with an extended warranty to 120,000 miles for the steal of a price of $26,900.

Um the blinkers bypass that , you law breaker. You could just get a mpt tune on a expedition. You would have over 500 bhp and get 12 mpg when you want to have fun. Oh and get into the low 5s 0 to 60

WOW that is an ugly SUV......I just don't get that styling. If you like it, more power to you, but that is not for me.

Since we're comparing Dashboards, here's the one in my '15 GMC......I don't think this angle does it justice, but at least it looks like most of the stuff is supposed to be there instead of tacked on after the fact. My only real complaint is that the screen should've been wider to fit the space instead of using a "parts bin" screen.

It's a neat feature, I was sad it never rolled out here before I got rid of it. Though I refused to pay the several hundred dollar a year subscription that enables it, so I guess that point is moot.

Since Audi will be buying back my Q7 TDI in the May-July timeframe, I have some time to shop for a new tow vehicle (an SUV...I'm not a truck guy). Here is a list of my top contenders, now I just need to determine if I buy new or gently used and which years have what I want!

Here is a list of top tow rated SUVs and my comments:

• Ford Expedition - 9,200 lbs.-sorry...not a Ford guy--had one as a rental didn't like it.
• Lincoln Navigator - 9,000 lbs. (same as above)
• Nissan Armada - 9,000 lbs. (know nothing about it-its an option)
• Chevrolet Tahoe - 8,600 lbs. (an option)
• Infiniti QX80 - 8,500 lbs. (an option if I can get past the way it looks)
• Cadillac Escalade - 8,300 lbs. (an option)
• Chevrolet Suburban – 8,300 lbs. (perhaps)
• Toyota Land Cruiser -8,000 lbs-- an option
• Land Rover Range Rover – 7,700 lbs. (not keen on the maintenance costs)
• Audi Q7 -- 7700 lbs --love the tech packages(does all of the below and adds FLIR)
• Toyota Sequoia - 7,400 - an option - getting close to the bottom of tow capacity
• Lexus LX 570 - - 7000 lbs --an option-but way expensive for what you get and marginal on towing

What I'd like as options (which will likely force particular years/brands):

• Adaptive cruise control
• Auto leveling headlights
• Auto leveling suspension
• Front collision avoidance/braking
• Lane departure warning and lane keeping
• Blind spot warning
• 3 rows of seats
• bluetooth music and hands free phone operation (must work well!)

So if you have an Armarda, Tahoe, QX80, Escalade, Suburban, Sequoia/Land Cruiser.....does it have all of the above, if so what year is it, and are you happy with its towing capability?

Well, looks like I may be done with my search!

We put a deposit on something today, still need to give myslef a day or two to mull over it - these things just got out of hand expensive.
