ST,
Great for a UTV/ATV/golf cart, etc. where there are not options for larger subs or an enclosure to support a larger sub. And usually in the open motorsport vehicles, per the sub/box location, you are nearly wearing the subwoofers. The sub energy is heard and felt before it has had a chance to dissipate.
Similarly, I have a bass-reflex 6.5" subwoofer build into every seat of my RV. And it's really impressive sitting 'in' the seat.
However, I just don't see the application in an open boat even though the Wetsounds 6.5" sub driver looks serious. A 6.5" simply doesn't have the surface area to challenge the obstacles of open air boating.
Also, I am not a fan of multiple subwoofer locations if this is what is implied by "more subs". Off-shore boat owners use multiple 8-inch coaxials distributed around the boat, coaxials normally capable of really good bass output, and are shocked to discover poor bass. They never anticipated that all those speakers would be perceived at various degrees of phase rotation. Not as critical at higher & shorter wavelengths....but a real killer for bass.
