Rapid water intrusion

Don’t jump to that unless you confirm it! Not only would that be a waste of money it would be a huge waste of time and effort, and more importantly it may not solve the problem if it is not the issue.

Take a compressed air hose and blow the water out of those little round holes in the rubber suspension ring and run it again and see if they get water in them, IF you do not find anything with the mirror.
So just to confirm… the little round holes are what’s visible when looking at the bearing from the engine?

Also attached pictures of the cooling hoses and clamps. I don’t believe they are leaking.

The little round holes are circled below in the picture, if you zoom in on your video you will see water in all of them. Once you confirm something we will help you find the right part for sure!

Just to confirm, you did replace the clamp on the exhaust where the arrow is pointing? Be easy to forget it and definitely a pain in the butt to put on since you’re going in blind there..

Definitely have a clamp there. And thank you!!! I appreciate all the help here. 1773605066480.jpeg

Is this hose relevant to this situation? Probably not but thought I would point it out.

Thank you- those clamps need to be replaced but they weren’t dripping. It’s the hose from the clean out through hull to the outside of the boat.

Any chance you could send pics of the clean out tube and clamps?

we put the boat back but these crappy pics are all I have

Thanks! I’m impressed how you’re trying to figure this out. Hang in there! When you did your video to demonstrate water intrusion, were you able to confirm that area around the clamp remained dry?

I’m so thankful for all the help on this!!

No water was coming from the bottom of the clean out. I was hoping that’s where it was from, seems easier to fix.

That bottom clamp looks awfully suspect, since the clamp isn’t where it should be from the picture. But then again in the video of that area it didn’t look like water was coming from the bottom of the cleanout tube?

Would it be worth filling the transom up with water on dry land and see if it leaks anywhere?

Does it need to be lower?

Another thought, just to rule out the clean out tube or the clean out plug is to start it up with the hatch up (tape down the safety switch) and see if water comes into the tube.(?)

Does it need to be lower?
It just looks like the clamp should be down a little lower where there’s a wear mark that I circled. If the clamp is tight against the cleanout tube then it should be okay. Really if you put the plug locked in place and then fill with water on top if that clamp is loose it should show a leak.

Got it. Thank you!!! Do you know which parts I should Purchase for the intermediate bearing?

I honestly would contact Island Racing for the replacement part. The part on partzilla looks like it is just the housing without the bearing in the middle. Island racing website is dated, but it is how I ordered my replacement bearing and never had an issue, and contacting them via email to confirm was quick and painless.

Here is a link to their site and I already picked 190FSH so just scroll down to find the intermediate bearing/housing replacement:

Obviously I wouldn't buy it just yet, since we are still trying to confirm your leak. But doesn't hurt to get confirmation it's the part you'll need.

You can order the complete assembly with bearings & seals already installed from WSM. I've installed them on both of my Exciters and they fit great, and work great for $249 each:

Thank you for replying with this, I tried to look up WSM first but I believe I was on the wrong site 😂
