The tab is basically a stop for the nylon slider located within the plug. It does have some force applied to it and it is necessary for it to be about 3/8" tall to evenly support the profile of the nylon slider. This way the load gets distributed evenly. I'm not sure a fastener would be the best solution but if you do find a simple and affordable solution please share so we can pass that along to others if this ever comes up again .

your picture is not clear as to what you are having a problem with I can think of NOTHING that you should use JB weld on . here is a video I made years ago on how the inner workings of the plug operate also if you add EZ locks to the plugs properly you do not need the release button but you still need the locking tabs to work
The little black plastic tab I'm holding is broken. Without that tab the locking mechanism will not work.

still can not see what you are talking about, there is a small tray that slides forward in a track , a spring behind it pushes it forward and a horizontal bar on the front of it that locks in the cut out on the T handle rod, there is also a release that pushes the tray back to allow the T handle to unlock so you can remove the plug are you saying you broke the track that contains and guides the plastic tray ??

So I did two things:

1) I was able to get E6000 glue to stick to hold that little black piece for now... So it locks again until it breaks (which I figure it will).

2) I bought Cobra ez locks (25 bucks or so). I will install that as a backup. Sure beats $250+ for a full replacement.

Thanks to everyone who replied, gave input, helped, etc.! I appreciate it!
