Don't see many of those 2500 'burbs anymore. Quite the setup with that giant gas engine under the hood. Even more rare are the 2500 Avalanche's. They didn't make many of them, and the single digit fuel economy keeps most from buying them used. Great platform though!
I had a 2001 Yukon XL with the 8.1L and 4.10 rear end ratio.
It got 12.5 mpg solo, and about 9-10 when towing heavy. 10-20K pounds.
I bought it for a song back when gas spiked to $4.
I loved that thing!

Replaced our Tundra with this, just picked it up last week. So far I love it...much better in every way than my Tundra.

2019 Ram. After years of hating on the Ram’s -I really liked the looks of the 2019...

I pull both the camper and the boat with my 2015 Grand Cherokee V6 4x4. I’ve added airbags in the rear suspension for towing, leveling kit, and spacers on the wheels.

I need to get the camper weighed again as we’ve added granite countertops and hardwood floors but I have to say she tows like a dream. Struggles a little bit on the mountains but I’m gentle with the throttle.

The transmission in normal driving is around 198 and when towing (even in the mountains) never gets above 204. None the less I bought a transmission cooler but need to install.

Also about time for new tires, I want to get something just a little more beefy. Not too much though. D3F7CD30-4C7C-48CD-804B-C4E9BA5BCFBA.jpeg1814F276-86B1-4157-B8FC-5B88F0378E45.jpeg

Looks good. I've been looking into the new rams as an option when my current f150 lease ends.

Replaced my Colorado with a 2019 Ram Rebel. The Colorado was a great truck for its size, but with a baby on the way fitting a car seat was going to be problematic. I love the Ram so far. The interior’s roominess, tech, and build quality are incredible, and it does a great job pulling the boat.

Do you find yourself needing to lock out 5th gear to keep it from hunting gears a lot?
I haven’t noticed that, I leave it in (S) sport mode when towing.

@Brad460 my boy rented a 2019 for our trip down to the Keys a couple of weeks ago and he was complaining that although it towed the 240 great it drank gas like a dehydrated horse in the Mojave Desert. What has been your experience with yours?

We got 11.2 towing 70-75 mph for 216 miles straight up north. I have gotten as high as 23 not towing.

Not sure what he is comparing too, but there is nothing getting much, if any, better than this. My Tundra was around 10.5 mpg.

I have a 2018 Ford Expedition Max, 4x4 with HD tow package. Great tow vehicle for my 16 242LS. Tow about 2000 miles a year to various lakes in California, NEvada and Arizona. Have the Carlisle radials - big difference from stock trailer bias tires

My 2018 F150 with the 2.7 ecoboost and 10 speed sees around 13.5-14 on the highway at 65 -70 towing our boat but I'm sure that number would drop some with a larger boat back there.

2013 Chevy Silverado Z71 LTZ. Used to pull our 28' trailer out to the beach/mountains/desert. Now it pulls the boat.

This is my trusty OBS Ford. I love this truck. Had to have a bigger truck to handle the camper and refused to pay big $ for a diesel. Set a 10k limit and searched high and low for a while to find either a 5.9 Cummins or 7.3 PowerStroke and finally found it after 6 months.

IF an Admin see this please delete the duplicate thread I foolishly started before another member linked me to this one.
