Stoltz Bow Roller Definitive Answer

@Sotally Tober .....just purchased the Stoltz roller specifically made for the 19 foot Yamahas that c/w a Shorelandr Trailer. Stoltz told me to get the 3.5" Stoltz RP355 Model as that is what was meant for the Yamaha SX195. We'll see, it should arrive within a week or so. BTW a friend puts a soft covered fender cover over his rollers and has never even had a scuff.

Thanks for the update. I went ahead and purchased both. I'll try them both out once I get home from deployment in a few weeks.

I can tell you definitively because I made the mistake of buying the 4" RP446 roller & bells first. It will fit in the trailer fork BUT is so tight the roller will not turn without extreme pressure. Not the ideal situation. I then purchased the 3.5" advertised specifically for the Yamaha / Shorelander trailer combo and it is perfect. Roller and Bells turn easily by hand. I guess "ideal" is in the eyes of the beholder BUT the 3.5" is by far the better of the two for me. I think the 3" would be way too small for the 24' trailers.

Somewhere on this site someone posted the exact Stoltz replacements for 19’, 21’, 24’, and 25’. I took the advise and bought the one for 19’ for my 195 FSH CC Sport. That item was
and appears to be almost identical to the stock roller that has scuffed the hull some on just the trip back from dealer.

@robby76 ..... it may appear identical but it is a lot better. The first roller (OEM Shorelander) scuffed my boat on the short trip home from the dealer. I removed the scuffs and installed the Stoltz. It is a lot softer and has not damaged my hull.

I also read here that it can be changed without unloading the boat by just loosing the secured strap and it should relax off the tension enough to change out.
My question to all you owners that have swapped it out successfully without unloading?

@robby76 I did not unload. What I did was put a few 4x4's and a PFD throw cushion on top of them under the keel near the front of the boat before the bend up to the bow. Released my straps and lowered the trailer a bit which raised the boat off the roller. A couple of inches. Swapped it out. Fairly easy and quick procedure.

@robby76 .....I swapped without unloading. Good suggestion from @HangOutdoors. Just be careful working with your wrenches - you wouldn't want to slip and knock a chunk of gel coat out. Otherwise a five minute job (for me anyway).
