SX230 Cooling Line Replacement

My 2008 SX230 has less and less water pressure coming out of the pissers. Has anyone replaced the cooling lines along with the pissers? What did you use? Or is the lack of pressure from something else? I replaced my impeller and housing and still get the same result.

First look into the pissers with a flashlight, there may be bugs and stuff blocking it. Last year we had to blow out our line coming off the thermostat (starboard motor) with an air compressor due to bugs/crap blocking it. Very easy to unclamp and blow them out though.

As long as you’re not getting overheats you’re probably fine. I do usually have quite a bit coming out when cruising though. You can pull the intake screens on the side of the pumps and check them out as well.

Its a pressure thing, If your flushing half your water is going out the pump because there is a Y fitting. You can pinch the hose from the pump before the splitter to send all the water to the engine instead however its not really needed as long as your getting some water out the pissers you should be good while flushing.

You should have a good stream if the boat is running while in the water. If not there is restricted flow somewhere. Could be in the strainer in the pump. Corrosion or obstruction in the engine, bad thermostat or plugged hose. Are you getting any overheat warnings?

Yes outside rectangular panel on the port side on the pumps

My AR230 lightly “pisses” out water while under idle & no-wake mode. The more RPM the higher the water pressure while cruising. I have never gotten water out of the side ports while on a hose which is completely normal for our boats.
