I purchased a boat in April and I have possession of the boat and trailer with a signed and notarized bill of sale, but I still don't have the lien release. The seller has shown me proof that the loan was paid off, so I am not concerned about that. However, we can't get any traction from Synchrony to release the lien. The issue is that the title was Florida which is an electronic title state, but you can't print the title UNLESS they receive confirmation of the lien release from the loan company.
Synchrony is no help, so I am at a loss how to proceed further.

They have all sorts of stupid stipulations and red tape on their end that they say they must clear before they release a title. I was going through this issue with them when I wanted to sell my boat to someone but they said it would take at a minimum like 30 days or something stupid before they could release the loan to them and I would have to sign off on the document package as it gets circulated. It seemed like such a PITA that the potential buyer I had backed out and I didn’t blame him. I ended up just trading the boat it to be done with it. Took me forever to get to the right person to talk to there and much harder than it needed to be in my opinion. That was my last loan with that company so long as I can help it!

I bought a waverunner last august... seller paid them off immediately and I got the title in November.

they are notoriously slow!

I paid in cash just to try to speed up the process, but it’s been over two months and still no release. The reason I bought this was to use THIS summer. If I would have known it was going to big this big of a PITA I would have just put a deposit for next year. Just frustrating.

I just refinanced my boat middle May12th, and just got a envelope from them with basically everything I needed to get a new title issued with out the lien. Had 4-5 letters, from people with power of attorney stating that Synchrony is now Yamaha finance. Main reason I refinanced to my local credit union, was planning on selling the boat later this summer, and new owner, as long as payment is cash or certified check, they get the lien release there and then. Because I've read the horror stories like yours on this forum before.

100% agree. I'll never finance through Synchrony again. So far no problem, but makes me nervous as hell to sell it.

Having a crappy experience with a couch that was financed with them as well. 0% for 48mo (yea, I know). The minimum payment was LESS than what was needed to pay it off in time to avoid fees and BACK INTEREST on the full amount. Borderline deceptive and predatory IMO.

Every time I pay off my Amazon card, the limit gets raised. I have some absurd limit now, like 60k or something that I could buy through Amazon......also completely sponsored by Synchrony. Again, also borderline predatory IMO.

they suck and what's worse is they actually have no human customer service to get ahold of. Boycott them at all costs.
