The Tesla factory is 13 miles South of my home so I see them on the road and haulers all the time.

Recently Tesla pulled all cyber truck information off their site, no biggie I wasn’t in the market anyway.

Even being close to the plant i have yet to see a charging station at any of the marinas I’ve been to here in CA, that’s a problem since the closest ramp giving me access to SF Bay is 10 miles away but the inland waters I usually boat in are 50 to 100 miles out.

Anyway, I drove right by the Tesla Plant and bought one of these instead.

Oh yeah, it’s Razor Eco Smart Metro electric scooter. Single rider, inflatable tires, open trunk. Powered by three 12V batteries, has a top speed of 15 mph and an average run time of 40 minutes. More importantly it matches my wife’s. Initial total used/new to me cost of $425 (my wife got hers for $250). It also fits well in the Yakima bike rack we just got (for free but that is a different story). we stopped at a local bike shop to pimp our rides at little and spent another $200. Now we both have head and tail lights, bells, rear view mirrors, cup/phone holder combos, new seats, new valve covers and thin as well as thick cable locks.

we also found a nearby peninsula park on the way home from the “dealership” to use these in for the first time together.

We Stopped and had a mini picnic. Rode about five miles on semi paved trails. Didn’t even break a sweat (to be fair the air temp was on the low 60s). It was F’’’ing AWESOME !!!

Seriously, my wife and I had a great time together on these. I got the same vibe I get when we are on our Waverunners together (better than we have ever had when riding our bikes or stand up paddle boards together).

We are already planning to bring these with us on camping and on over night boating / Waverunner excursions. I will either mount them on the front hitch of our expediton or preferably mount them / their carrier on the rear of our MDX with an extension/ adapter.

We will still continue to bike / exercise daily but these are fun, relatively cheap ways to get out of these house and/or run local errands with. I tried using my son’s electric skate board a few times but my knees and feet just can’t handle the abuse/Vibration anymore.

bringing it back to boating. These were a nice reminder that we don’t have to spend $35k or much more to have a good time. Our days on the Waverunners cost us $180 just for the fuel.we took these out yesterday for about $9 in gas and $6 or so to get over a toll bridge that we wouldn’t be on normally, even parking was free.

Given all of the above, Boating, specifically “wave running” is still a lot more fun for us.

Sounds like the same driveline in your bikes that is in my son's Razor MX500 Dirt Bike. (3) 12v batteries and a 500W motor. Pulls me around at ~15mph or so.

Sounds like you guys had a great time!

Nice bikes. I’m curious though. $180 for a day on the water with the Waverunners? How many hours is that?

$180 includes the cost for tow vehicle fuel I used that day, the skis only used plus another 32 gallons or 16 gallons per ski over the course of a day/lunch on the water, all 91 octane at Around $4.50 per so $144 total. I used another 16 gallons in the tow vehicle so my initial estimate of $180 was conservative/modest.

i know we could stretch the mpg and gallons per hour if we cruised more and throttled up less but we don’t ride like that all the time and have a boat for that kind of day on the water.

That’s helpful, still not cheap though. Of course nothing is these days.

They look like fun. Glad you enjoy them! :winkingthumbsup"

I think my wife and I going to probably go the Rad Mini route after we move into our new home. I like the fact that after we ride the bike trails, I could easily folk them and put them in the back of my truck cap.

Keep an eye on Facebook marketplace. The prices are acceptable and I can usually find what I'm looking for.......... if you can wade through the BS of dealing with random people on the internet that is :)

I just saw some videos on how to easily upgrade the batteries to double and triple the stock range of 5 miles at full speed up to 7 miles stop and go at cruising speed.

1. Replace the stock 7a bayeries with 15a batteries. They will fit tightly in the stock location. $135 per scooter.

2. Add a switch and a few leads to the stock 7a batteries relocated to the basket at the rear. Under $10.

I’m looking forward for these upgrade/modifications.

we took these things out recently and could have used the extra range to check out the rest of these dumps in the neighborhood.

My wife bought herself one of these in August. Up to 20 mph on electric assist. Gazelle Ultimate T10 HMB
I can't believe that she can peddle this up our hill on a gravel road, and make it to the top, without breaking a sweat. No, they are not cheap, but you gotta pay to play. I have only done the "hill" on a peddle mountain bike once, a long time ago, as a younger man.

We plan to ride the Burlington Bike Path, North to the old RR causeway crossing the Lake between Colchester and So. Hero this Summer.
You can see the causeway in many of the pictures I take of the Lake from our house.

WOW, you weren't chitin us when you said they're not cheap.
Does it plug into a normal outlet for charging or does it have a special charger for it? Any idea on the lifespan of the batteries? Will it charge the batteries on it's own in situations where your just free-wheeling?

120v outlet with a charger. You can take the battery out to charge or bring in from freezing temps.

Of course battery life depends on ah rating, use on pedal assist and speed. We have an older customer that rides her bike to pick blueberries. 20 mile round trip with no recharge and some pretty big hills to climb.

Hey Ronnie....another idea for more range is to determine what Amps these things run at and then what 'other things' run-on the same amperage. I've had an Original Onewheel+ for ages that the stock battery was only good for 5-7 miles (new ones get up to 30 miles). The Online community for those things is great for hacking these things for more range. My current set-up is a new denser battery that sits in the same space as the original. I also use Ego lane equipment batteries (as they run on the same voltage) and can swap them. The pic below is my board with a 2.5a battery but my current fav is a 5.0a (which is good for 15-20 miles. My system actually uses the batteries in parallel. In the attached pic, you can see the cable running to the charge port.

Another idea is to get yourself a portable Power Station (search for something like a Jackery on Amazon that you can use to stop and charge your batteries while on a break. There's tons of options out there that can be used for many different settings.

:)

I’m still Waiting on the new/ bigger batteries to be delivered but did get some other goodies already like ram mounts to hold the blue tooth speakers to the scooters or out bikes, plus telescoping tubes to creat a tip tube on the scooters that the bike rack can lock onto. Thanks the speakers are synched so my wife and can can hear the same music it’s also great the we are more getting use of the speakers since previously they were only used when jetskiing , the top tubes allow me to stop strapping the scooters down with a tie down strap.

The 15ah batteries have been delivered, installed and charged. So we should now get twice the range (10 miles instead of 5) out of our scooters. I’m looking forward to trying it out this weekend.
install the as a breeze with the overpriced wiring harnesses I bought ($35 for 3 wires with 7 connectors, and an inline fuse). The batteries were $100 for a set of three.

I plan to add a switch and additional wiring along with the stock batteries (located in the basket) for an additional 5 miles in the range:

attached are pics of the stock set up,
modified set up and the stock and new batteries Side by side.

Seeing CentriPedal Bikes puts a smile on my face - they used to do my bike tuneups when we lived in Fremont.

Have you guys checked out the new park over by Ardenwood/Coyote Hills?
