Hey everyone, looking at a Sea Doo wake 230 from 2009. The boat looks great, has really clean vinyl.

I tried to put a deposit down on a 2003 Malibu 23 LSV but got beat out by hours ;( I really wasn't looking for a Jet Boat and honestly my only experience with them is a porpoising horribly 17 footer...

So, what problems could a 2009 jet drive have? What to look for?

How's the maintenance? Winterizing?

Does it do okay tubing?

Basically, convince me that I'll be happy with a 2009 Sea Doo Wake 230 vs a 2000-2004 inboard.

My daughter and son wakeboard but they don't throw huge tricks. If they ever get there we have friends that would love to pull them behind massive Tige/Mastercraft boats...
They, like all kids love to tube on huge tubes (poparazi 2) etc

I can’t tell you too much about that boat. I have a 2009 Speedster 155. It’s been pretty for us generally speaking. You have to be careful of weeds as the intake clogs easily. And there’s no cleanout ports like the Yamahas.

Is the boat you’re looking at supercharged? The Rotax engines have had issues with the super chargers from what I understand. Mine is not supercharged and I’ve had very few issues.

Winterization is super easy. Don’t really have to do much other than add fuel stabilizer, remove the battery and make sure the drain plugs are removed.

My boat is good for tubing and even better for slaloming as the wake is pretty small. It doesn’t have the pull of my Yamaha but it’s strong enough. We don’t do too much wakeboarding.

IIRC, doesn't it requires premium gas if it's supercharged? Thought that I had read that somewhere

The newer brp engines recommend the highest octane, but I think they can run with the mid-level (like 87). Don't know about the older engines. From what I read of the older SC engines, they had to be rebuilt every 100 hrs, so keep that in mind.
