There were a lot of somber, even preachy ads yesterday. Big departure from the fun and light hearted ads that have dominated Super Bowl spots in the past. The Nationwide ad where the kid had drowned upset my youngest. The top 2 commercials have already been posted. My #1 being the Budweiser puppy and #2 being the Nissan one. There was one towards the beginning of the game that really had a powerful message, yet I don't know what the product or service was. There was one other one that had scenes in a battered house with a woman's voice in the background on the phone to a 911 operator ordering a pizza. The operator figured it out and dispatched the police. I think it was a message for preventing domestic violence. Powerful message.
That was a backup spot, original upset animal rights people so much it was yanked after previews. I was surprised they didn't have something better as a backup. The go daddy commercial this year was a disappointment.
