What'd you pay for your Scarab?

Isn't that a little big of a boat to come with a single axle trailer?

They said 900 to upgrade to tandem. 50,540 for the blue boat which is a leftover 2014. Another dealership advertising exact boat just a 2015 on a tandem axle trailer for 43,997 or one without tower for 41,447. How is a one year older boat at Marine Max 7k more than a newer one from smaller dealership? Just got off the '14 and it topped out at 43 in guardian mode with zero hours. Sales guy admitted he knew nothing about the boat, was trying to look through manual to explain different modes and cruise control etc. why is cruise necessary if you just leave throttle in same position isn't that same thing?

@215Larry The smaller dealership is the way to go then. Cruise control will set the throttle, and will prevent you from over reving, and speeding in a no wake zone. And in some rough chop, prevent you from accidentally accelerating by smacking the throttle.

The tandem trailer is worth every penny.

Another nice feature about cruise control, like the ski-mode is that when you have the cruise set it is using the GPS based speed, not engine RPM. If you just move the throttle into position and then enter a corner while towing a skier or boarder the boat will slow down because of the increased drag. If you set the cruise the engine will actually increase RPM after entering the corner to maintain the set boat speed so you don't have to.

As for the single axle, if you are not trailer-ing often/far you don't need the cost or wear of the second axle, beyond that it is personal preference.

Regarding price, there are a lot of options on those boats, make sure you are comparing apples to apples!

I have a 195. I think it's underpowered but I think it would be more than enough power for the 165. But just assuming.

Guy from MarineMax called today and said they extended the 2k incentive one more day just for me lol. But still 9k difference between exact boats from marine max and smaller dealer in Dallas. Dallas dealer said he knew of no such incentives.

@215Larry I am buying a custom 215HO, picking it up Friday. Its a 2016, custom built to have everything the HO Impulse has, just in blue. My dealer is charging 65,800, twin 250s. Waketower, wake balast, etc Sales mgr is very knowledgeable, knows the scarab boats very well, let me testdrive a new 2015 215HO and a 204 yamaha. He even flew up to the favtory in Cadillac, Michigan and took pics of my boat in production. Very cool! He has kept me posted of its progress the whole time. He let me know when it passed initial QC inspe tion and then when it passed mech. testing and inspection. It was passed yesterday and is heaced to dealership now. Whenhe gets it he needs a couple days to install seadek, gps, boat name graphic, etc. Charleston Powersports has exceeded all expectations. Sea trial on friday morning. Thats customer service!

You buying in Canada? Congrats on purchase. I had the dealership in Dallas build a new 2016 HOI with everything and was a 76k msrp but was being sold for 63k. I think I'm gonna buy the leftover 2015 215 HO for 41k, not fully loaded but had plenty options for me.

@215Larry Thanks and congrats on your boat as well. That price does include the tandem axle trailer, a custom upgraded stereo w amp, better speakers. Also an extra battery with switch installed, garmin gps with transducer installed. Also seadek installed, and also a Yeti cooler. Those are all upgrades from the impulse so im pretty happy, plus a quality dealership and service dept behind it. If youre like me, it has made time absolutely drag by waiting on it. Hopefully Scarab has addressed some of the problems some have had with the 14s and 15s. I think youll be happy which ever way you you decide. Post your pics whenyou get it.

You mentioned twin 250s...are you getting the boat with dual supercharged intercooler engines...I thought it was discussed here that all 215s came with 200s. You did say it was a custom build. That's gonna be a fast boat!!!

Looked at a 2015 scarab 215 ho impulse with premium stereo, tower speakers, bow and cockpit covers, digital speed controls, walk through door, and cockpit table. Msrp of about 70,000. Asking 57,600. Great looking boat. Would be a buyer at 55,000. Not sure if this is a good price. Seems solid.

250hp motors? Offer 53,900 and tell them you are ready to pull trigger now. If they balk or say no just walk away and within a few days they will be calling you to come pick it up.

I have been shopping for a 165 HO and nobody is dealing off full retail.......very few dealers within 400 miles of here. Even had one dealer tell me he was giving me $4k off and quoted me retail! Hard to swallow $32K for a tiny but nice boat!

Picking up 2015 215 ho impulse. A little over 70 msrp. Paying 56. Also getting almost 30 for 2014 Yamaha ar192 for trade. Yamaha has perfect pass and kicking stereo.

@CrazyCooter no one pays full retail for a boat ever. Keep calling around bro. For 3k more you can get a 250hp 195 HOI

I don't need nor do I have room for a bigger boat or I would have many other options in boats!

The next closest dealer is like 800 miles one way away from me.....what does a guy do for warranty service should it need it? 400 miles round trip to the closest Scarab dealer and none of the sales people seems to be interested in doing any legwork on that issue. They are just saying any Seadoo "Should" be able to do it.... I told them get me something in writing that says where Rec. Holdings will authorize repairs in my area and we can make a deal.

If the Scarab dealer network is this poor, incompetent, lazy, sparse....Maybe I should just do without for a while.

Honestly you might be better off. Anyone that uses should or maybe forget them!
I want absolute answers when buying and paying for goods and services. Especially at these prices.

Hey CrazyCooter ! Where do you live ?

I absolutely love this 53mph bullet. I live in Chicago and the only concerns I have is a reliable service center, CAN ANYONE PLEASE POINT ME IN THE DIRECTION OF A SCARAB OR ROTAX SERVICE CENTER IN THE GREATER CHICAGOLAND AREA.
Thanks for any info with this subject,
Bryan
