The car audio installers that I used to upgrade the audio equipment are having a HUGE problem tinting my AR 240's windows. I am wondering if anyone else had problems when trying to tint theirs? They have tried 3 times now. The first two times it was outside in the summer heat and then over the weekend in 50 degree weather inside. They just called and said they are hiring a new guy to try. I understand the window is curved and difficult but seems like a good number of guys have it done. Any tips please.... @Williamsone46 @Wayloncle @

Not sure I have any tips other than maybe try a different shop. The guy that I have used forever tinted mine and he did an awesome job.

yes, find someone who heat shrinks it....I have heard this works well. This is how many do the curved back windows. Maybe he could try it....I know this is a car and not a boat, but I hear a lot have to do this on curvature on boat windows.

He did try to heat shrink it. I guess if they can't do it then I will wait until I go back down to Florida. Hopefully someone down there will have more experience with boats.

The guy that did mine didn't have much trouble, he said it was more of a curve than he does on a daily basis but he heated the crap out of it and it looks great....especially for $120.

I took the top section of my tower off so we could get it in his shop, he wasn't worried about the weather much just the dust and crap getting on the window while tinting outside.

I'm guessing it's just the skills of the guys, not saying your guys are not good at tinting but just not used to doing as much heating and curves.

@Wayloncle well I might just wait a year and when I move back to Ft. Rucker bring it down to your guy. I guess we will see when I get the call tomorrow.

I did mine on my first YJB, what I a pita, so my first tip you have already imrmented, that is, hire someone else to do this job.

On my current YJB I paid a pro around $350 they did it in one day but took a few hours more than they expected. The tint looks great and came with a lifetime warranty. However, my tip coming out of it is not to allow them to remove the windows to do it. They removed my windows and now one vibrates at speed because it is missing a spacer between it and the frame. Also the center window wasn't perfectly realigned so it caused the part of the hull it closes on to chip.

Lastly if you plan on running with the center window open than consider going with a lighter shade of tint so that the copilot can see through both the curve window on their side as well as the center window when it is in he open position.

@Wayloncle It looks like I will be using your guy next year. Hopefully he and you are still around so I could get his info. I will be down there around AUG 2015.

I should be around still, figured I'd post it here for record keeping.
The guy just recently got on Yelp, before that you couldn't find him at all doing internet searches, I didn't even know that was the name of the place, his building says TINT, he has a bunch of photos on Yelp, my boat is about halfway through them.

I did my own for about $30 something dollars. Used the 5% static cling and it handled the curve pretty well. However, to save time and hassle I'd go to @Wayloncle s guy. But here's a pic of mine just to show.GOPR0340_1412881017747_high-1.jpg
