Did you let windows install the drivers or did you make it search to the CD you got with the software? Cuz everything ive read elsewhere about the drivers should show that as a usb interface. not usb serial port. i think you have the wrong drivers installed for it. I can remote your machine tomorrow and help you if you would like. Im an IT Specialist/Systems Admin by trade.
THIS is why, jetboaters.net HAS MADE BOATING GREAT AGAIN. What an awesome community. Id love to hear the results if u get it up and running for this fellow boater.
S1LV3R4D0, I would welcome any help & time you could give me. I downloaded Teamviewer and was able to get help with the first program I bought, but that did not solve the problem. I looked for the baud rate and any other settings for the drivers but they all appear the same. Thanks

I copied the c/d directly to a flash drive then transferred that to all my laptops and tablets. Now i dont need to inset insert anything. Just open the software
@Billtex2000 curious if you ended up purchasing this kit and had success? I have an engine light throwing on my 06 sr210 and want to purchase a diagnostic kit to read it myself.. None of the kits I have found online list the sr210 in the models they cover, they all list the ar & sx 210, but do not list the sr?? any luck yourself?
Running Win10 on a laptop, I installed the YDS software without adding any drivers. Changed the port to COM1 and plugged the cable into the plugs that were located just behind the starboard storage locker. There is a 5" or so diameter hole cut in the aft wall of that locker and the wires had been pulled through for easy access.
Turning the key on didn't get any data from the motors without turning the engine over. Once I did that, no problem seeing the diagnostic information in YDS.
My boat had a data connector cable in it. The previous owner told me he had to replace both ECM's and each engine had a little over 20 hours. I'm assuming the hours are reset with a new ECM.
First of all, thank you all for a wonderful forum full of information. I have had all of my questions answered up to this point just by searching and reading through all of this great information! I have learned so much over the last few months.
I bought an 05 AR230 about 3 months ago. And to just go on ahead and get it out there, the 2nd time out sucked up the rope for the tube, came here for info, replaced bearings per the OUSTANDING sticky post on here, then found out about the YDS Software.
I ordered the software and got it installed per the instructions. Changed the Com port and made sure everything matched up with what the instructions said. Found this post which helped me find out where to plug into, but I can't get the software to work. Says "communication error between PC and ECM"
Checked cables, turned on key on both motors, turned both motors over, actually started the Port motor, and am not getting anything. Any other ideas?
The light never came on that I could tell. It seemed like to me it never made connection. I tried both of my USB ports on my laptop due to not knowing for sure which one is COM1, went back and checked the settings on COM1 to make sure I had it right...
Is there any way to check the plugs on the boat to make sure they are sending info? I'm assuming there should be some sort of voltage huh?
if your gauges work then the plugs are sending info, those same plugs send all the info to the dash, the dash won't work while you've got it disconnected,
are you sure you've got the correct engine plug connected ??
YDS, especially on the older boats is very finicky, I've tried multiple times and whether it's the database or com issue, then it just works,
I FINALLY got it to work.
I had to turn the motor over a few times in order to get it to make a connection. My Port motor actually cranked about the same time it connected with the red light coming on at the cord. My Starboard motor turned over a few times and then connected.
For some reason my Starboard motor wont crank now. Using the software, it doesn't sound like the fuel pump is coming on. The motor will turn over but will not crank. I swear it seems like I get one thing fixed and 2 more things goes wrong. I guess this is the joy of buying a used boat.
Anyway, after all of the issues I have had with the boat, I was worried the hours were much higher than I was told but it checks out to a little over 200 hours on each motor.
