Great videos, I wish I could convince my wife to let me record more. Got FCPX and everything that's needed to make a good clip, but the camera comes out and the everything else turns off it seems.

Give the camera to the kids. I put a floaty door on, and a floating 6" selfie stick, and let the kids go nuts. Understanding that 90% of it will be crap and a whole lot of sticking their tongue out at the camera. Once they see a couple good stills or clips, then they start trying harder.

Here is another frame grab from this weekend.

I finally get to submit a Summer GoPro video from our boat. We had to drive 3+ hours to a body of water that wasn't completely trashed by all of the recent rain, but we made it!

Here is our Lake Cumberland weekend from this past Saturday, Sunday and Monday:

@Volffas , loved it. I especially like how up you incorporated the Arial footage and up your use of slow mo. I also appreciate how much effort it takes to produce /edit such a video from hours of footage. It it would have taken 30 to 60 minutes of work per minute of edited/final video.

Thanks Ronnie. Making these videos is definitely a time consuming ordeal. But I really enjoy doing it, and I hope my kids will watch the videos for years to come.

For this video I cheated a little bit and used a GoPro template which really helps match the action to the music since they already have all of the clips timed correctly.

I laugh at my wife or daughter everytime I pull up my YouTube Channel to show a clip to a friend or family member. They groan, and then sit down with them and say, you should see this one. And then it turns into a half hour of pulling up old clips. The key is keeping them short as not to bore anyone. I figure if I have to use more than one popular song (3.5 min average) then it is too long for anyone to sit through.

If I don't get any good footage, then I make sure to just dump the video, or take a couple stills from it to share on facebook. There is way more footage that "hits the cutting room floor" than most imagine until they edit for a few hours.

Here is an example. a couple hours of footage tubing in 2.5' waves hoping for some good shots. The girls demanded that I run the cam hoping for the epic launch. It was downright stupid tubing in 20-30mph winds, but they wanted to do it. So we did. I wish I could have had it rolling when we launched the boat!

Same with my girls. They act like they aren't too impressed with the videos at first, but everytime someone comes over to the house they say, "Hey dad! Can we show them the video of us....." and then they sit there for 1/2 hour + watching old videos. It's fun to watch them do that. I have a video on here of our girls jumping off a bridge in Norris, TN, our 8 year old LOVES to watch that video.

Here is a short compilation of some over the water footage I took this past weekend with my new Phantom 3 Advance. Having already ruined a Phantom 2 by crashing into the water a few months ago plus having a Phantom 1 die on the shelf, I was very reluctant to fly this new bird over the water and often very close to the surface. I'm hoping to get some better footage in the future once I figure out how to get my fpv goggles to work with the new rig. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this.

Nice work with the new phantom Ronnie. I see we are both in the same situation. I am trying to set the limits on my gimbal to keep the landing gear and prop guards out of the shots. I hate getting great footage, and then the bleed into my shots. I have to either leave them, or edit them out. GRRRR

Nice stuff for sure!

@biffdotorg , thanks for the compliment. I'm not too concerned yet about the occasional blade guard making it into the footage. I prefer to keep them on especially when flying from the boat or taking footage of someone being towed behind it. They protect my boat's interior and against injuries from the people I'm getting footage of. I think I can eliminate the occasional shot of the landing gear, In my case the foam I surrounded it with by just trimming a little of it here and there.

FYI I just ordered a new tablet with an hdmi ouput so I will be able to use my fpv goggles going forward for a more immersive experience. I'm hoping to get much better/closer/smoother footage of people wake boarding, knee boarding and tubing behind the boat. Flying by line of sight is tough given everythings relative positions and the fact that everything is moving sometimes in different directions. The ability to look down and fly fpv via a smart phone or tablet is nice but it does not give me the fpv/in the heli feel.

The thread has died for too long! I threw together a quick clip of one of the youngest in the group finally going ropeless. She even asked for the rope back before realizing she could pump the wake a bit to keep up! I had to strip the music out due to copyright. Enjoy!

That was awesome. Sounded just like our boat. Full of cheers and laughter. Congrats to your little girl.

I was surprised we had any wake at all with only two adults sitting on the sundeck for ballast. Although Anna is pretty small. Hopefully we can get a few more adults ropeless this weekend with the new board and more weight.

This is the video I put together of our 6th annual charity golf outing. What a great time. We raised $5,500 for local families in need in one day. Working on the Birthday weekend one now. That one will have boats in it!
