That is amazing. Looks about double the size and still fits like a direct bolt on. makes you wonder why on earth it didn't come stock like that.

Do you have part numbers for the replacement? The exit line, assuming it's still same input (therefore same flow), couldn't it be merged back into 1 using a y connector? And if not, let us know what solution you came up with.

TY.

I don't have the Yamaha part number but its easy to identify by the dual outlet ports on top. It is the same across all SVHO engines. To maintain its designed efficiency, its best to add a additional outlet line, instead of a "Y" connection. I ordered a complete same outlet hose, clamp, connectors, and water pilot from the dealer to match the existing outlet line that is already in place. Gonna route it the same, cause there's plenty of room in the zip ties, and the holes are big enuf between compartments. All you would be doing is adding another hole next to the existing two water pilot outlets, and by using the factory parts, its gonna look completely stock. If in a pinch, and if you don't care how it looks, a "Y" or "T" connector may be used, especially if your uneasy bout drilling a small hole to add a additional water outlet. The SVHO skis are equipped with 3 water outlets for maximum cooling... I also plan on installing a factory SVHO oil cooler. Yamaha states its 110% more efficient and its a bolt on part...

@360dart Thanks for sharing. it's great to have ppl here to help us layman with this.
Regarding the outlet, in retrospect it makes sense since the water expands after the heat exchange and therefore will add efficiency if it can discharge the volume faster. In essence the single line will create a blockage and cut down the benefit of the larger intercooler. got it.

Let's us know the results after your test drive.

So Yamaha has technology to take these boats several steps fwd, but they choose not to because...???
I opened up the engine hatch yesterday after towing it for 30 mns back home, then washed the whole boat and carpets, so lets say 2h after having shut down the engine, and the heat still in there was quite high.
So in theory, if we can cool down things down a bit, we will not only get better performance and gas mileage, but will help lengthen the life of the boat.

Would anyone here not have paid 1k extra to have these things from stock?

Knocked out a few more mods this week. First was a NOCO Genius battery charger. It's set up for 2 battery banks, but I'm not going to 2 batteries yet. Had to move the battery switch and fuse back a few inches to get it to fit on the side firewall. Wiring isn't cleaned up yet.

Next I installed the NOCO thru hull plug fitting beside the gas fill cap.

I also added a backup bilge pump. It's a Johnson 1000 gph with float switch. I wired it directly to the battery with a fuse inline. I mounted next to the speed sensor/transducer 3-4" off the bottom so it wont be coming on unless its an emergency.

I wanted all of the thru hull fittings to match so I ordered some fittings from ADARacing. Laying out the holes is tricky, because the factory bilge hole isn't spaced to match the other holes.

Finished product.

My wife gets nervous when I get the drill bits out. She's getting used to it though.

That is the factory hose inlet/outlet plate they are using. They built the cooler to use it and make it a bolt in...

The Type 14 from frozen boost with everything you need is $325. The only intercooler that outperforms it (barely) is the JFIZZLE intercooler. Do a search on GreenHulk.

I would love to do that. I'm just not sure I have the ability or knowledge to do so. Is there a step by step tutorial available?

I didn't realize there was that much of a price difference.
I know u added another intake line, but besides that, were the stock water lines a direct fit?

You can run the stock lines, but it won't be enough water flow to take full advantage of the intercooler. I had a hard time deciding between the do it yourself type 14 and the JFizzle intercooler. If you have any doubts, go with the sure thing. It comes with everything you need, and instructions. Can't go wrong. If you plan on upgrading the supercharger, you need one with the blow off valve. http://www.fizzlefactory.com/ym_intake_intercooler.html

lol, I don't mind some work, but I do want to spend more time enjoying it than working on it.
I don't think i'll go as far as swapping the supercharger. the main problem I have is the heat, once that is address to an extent, then it should perform as advertised. I usually have the kids onboard, so speeds over 45 are not on the menu all the time. i'm am more concerned when I have kids and a couple guests and then it bogs down.
I though if I could supply enough cold air from the intake it would be enough, but I don't think so. So an intercooler will have to be done. if the SVHO swap would make enough of a difference I rather go that route, if not, then maybe i'll follow your instructions.
In case I do go your route, does that type 14 have 1 0r 2 exit lines?
the strainer to the pump, instead of drilling the existing one, do you know if the Riva one fits our pump? (wanted to leave stock intact for warranty purposes. http://rivaracing.com/c-1066660-air-intake-intercoolers-tube-kits.html

TY for the help.

#1 problem is getting fresh cold air into the engine compartment. 2nd, pull the flame arrestor ribbon. Have a few beers and pop the engine hatch and see what you come up with. That's how I figure things out. Except I'm usually dealing with moonshine. Maybe that's where I get my powers...
