@luckie_529 Finally another water guy on here!!! My tag on here is from the obvious, liking to be around water, but mainly from the fact that I work in the industrial water treatment industry for 20+ years. I have spent my career in power plants, refineries, paper mills and the like treating cooling towers and boilers. Spent many years with Betz. Now work for a smaller privately owned company. We manufacture water treatment products and private label them for the small to mid size regional industrial water treatment service companies all over the country, helping them grow their business. Having more fun now than I ever did.

@luckie_529 I meant to ask, where are you located? What power plant are you in?

I have moved around and have been in the Carolina's for many years working in Progress Energy plants

Owner / broker of trash businesses. I buy businesses and rebuild them then sell them. Although this one I don't know if I will sell. First time in 30 years I have worked 5 days a week. Which has finally let me buy a boat since I have the time.

Why do trash companies seem to change hands so much. I've heard there is a lot of money in it....not the case? Seems like we get a new one popping up and it only lasts a couple years then changes hands or gets sucked up by the big guy in town, waste pro.

It really depends on yhe type of business. Residential services change hands a lot , i have never owned of those and dont plan to. Most get in trouble with capital. They get into the business thinking the truck is the most expensive thing and go finance 190k truck and buy 10 rolloff boxes (5500 per box) , they quickly find out that 10 boxes is not enough. They need 100 to 150 boxes per truck and off to the bank they go. its takes 122 hauls to pay for a container. My average turn is 7 days , the industry standard is 30 days.

My friend owned a trash company that was bought out by Waste Management. His read on thè business is if your doing well you will either be a target for possible aquisition or merger.
