All AR models regardless of size share the same type of design in tower with the knobs at the back and small hidden base.

All Limited and X models regardless of size share the same type of design in tower with the much larger base and different locking mechanism located on the inner sides of the tower.

For clarification purposes this should only apply to newer AR's (from 2015-present I believe).

During the crossing to Bimini I lost one of the four bolts that hold up my ski Tower. Does anyone have a spare hand bolt as shown in the picture attached that they can loan me. I will ship it back once we get back to the States.
This has got me thinking about next years Bimini checklist (and general maintainence checklist frankly) . . . . Like making sure all the hardware is torqued down, and where possible secured from backing out.

I'm thinking a few wraps of electrical tape aroud the tower/Bimini hardware could prevent something like this during future crossings.

Technically any newer forward swept AR-style tower.

Does anyone know if the North Bimini-Miami ferry takes cargo shipments?
Talking about my tower arch. Yamaha will need it to do their diagnostics/forensics, which would be a very good thing.

The arch will not fit in the cockpit, so I need to send it somehow. Yamaha does not have a mechanism to arrange for shipment from out of state. They have been very helpful so far, and I am going to do what I can to get the tower arch back to them.

Kate and I are looking into how to get it on that ferry. Anyone with contacts - please let me know. We did not get very far in the office.

Is FRS the ferry company? If so here is some google searching I found for cargo https://www.frs-caribbean.com/cargo. Sounds like you'll need to use a pallet, problem is someone will have to accompany the pallet/cargo on the ferry. So maybe put it in someone's name that is taking the ferry over and then work it out once everyone is back stateside? You will need to have to taken there today and put on a pallet.

just guessing, you would be better off lashing it to the boat somehow to get it home. International shipping can be a pain with customs, duties to be paid, god knows what else... It is not like just shipping something UPS or FedEx in the states. The paperwork alone can be a pain

Can you pad it really well and lash it to someone's tower. Like piggyback.

I would not recommend this. . . . . his broke under it's own weight (albeit in rather extreme conditions). The weight of 2 towers increases the risk of breakage for the second boat.

It's going to be smooth sailing on the way back. Hook the broken tower over the anchor light and lash it all down. I do realize that no one will actually want to do this but otherwise it's going to be somewhat of a challenge to get back. If it were me I'd probably just leave it there.

I think that someone should start a ferry barge service for trailer boats. Load them on the barge in Florida and deliver them to the Bahamas for splashing.... I'd pay $500 for that round trip.

Love the idea. . . . BUT, would there be enough business to support it though. . . . That would be a big barge and an expensive fuel bill.

Also. . . .would there be import / export rules regulating that kind of business?
