Ok, so I just bought my first boat....a very clean 2001 ls2000. So I topped it off before going to the lake. Manual says it holds 42 gallons. Is it really possible to go through 42 gallons of gas in 3-4 hours? I bought it with the gas gauge broken and am waiting to take delivery on a new sending unit now. I’m not bitching at all, I just had no idea what to expect...and of course I ran out??

I suppose running WFO that whole time yes you might. I don’t know what the old ones burned but 10-12 gph would do it.

Agree...It's possible depending on how you run it. Wide Open Throttle it will use more than double the fuel of a slower planning speed (maybe 25-30 mph?) Look up your boat's fuel usage per RPM to prepare. Depends on how fast you went for those hours, but it is quite possible indeed.

(I found the data below for your boat. not sure accurate it is, but it seems plausible)

Fuel Consumption (Cruise) 4500 rpm/30 mph/12 gph
Fuel Consumption (WOT) 6500 rpm/51 mph/28 gph
