Does the 2019 5’3” coaster fit in the standard Yamaha wakeboard rack?
It depends on which wakeboard rack you're referring to. The ones available thru Yamaha's accessory page I did own at one time prior to starting up my watersports company.
Pac2snd_1nNfXsJ4ljKiDPs_BntFGlX6L4V_loowyMg1.jpg
It would not fit the boards I had at the time (LF Rocket & HL Time Machine). But I don't know the size space between the forks as it lead me to purchase the current OEM surf/wakeboard racks. Perhaps @Bothomas knows?

Of course they all fit in the top surf forks of the surf/wakeboard racks. The 2020 5'3" Coaster is actually about 1/8" thinner than the 2019 5'0" Coaster. It is approximately 1.08" from what I could read on my calipers. It would fit in the wakeboard forks on the rack were it not for the extra rubber gripper teeth.

Thanks, yeah I have the top one. I did see your write up as well that’s what started my worrying. I saw some Yamaha racks on clearance but again they are like the top one. So I don’t want 2 racks that it won’t fit in. Next question if it does fit can you put another surfboard in the rack without them touching or is that not likely.

I think I may be shaving those rubber gripper feet if I don't sell my inland surfer! Otherwise, the Ronix wakeboard sits in the slot, but doesn't get used as much as the surfboard. I'm hoping that I love this coaster so much that it will not be painful to sell the Inland Surfer.

I wish I knew the exact spacing on those forks to verify things. The question about fitting 2 boards valid. I think if you're talking a Coaster and a wakeboard that the 2 likely would fit together. If the wakeboard went in bindings down and the coaster went in opposite with fins down. The fins are 2" on the Coaster (fairly small), and wakeboards usually have a decent rocker that would arch away enough by that point.

2 surfboards you could likely put them in bottoms facing each other and align them nose to tail. What's nice about the Cobra Cat and Gnarwhal boards, is that they have the tool-less FCSII fins and can just pop in and out easily.

I thought about doing it myself. There's times when having an extra surfboard slot would be helpful when we're headed out to demo some boards. I was going to contact Monster Tower (XTP) first and see if relevant rubber was available prior to getting crazy.

Thinking 2 surf boards (the other one is a kids size board), I have retired the wakeboard.

Yeah, you might be safer going with a double surf rack or 2 of the combo.

My monster sized surf board and my sons little surf board, a Connelly Dart (I think that’s what it is), fit fine in the surf/wake rack. His board is 44” long and pretty thin. It fits in the wakeboard slot fine.

Dash - I think thats what we have, too. He just turned 7 a few weeks ago. He got several rides in last season before we put it up. He was just starting to get the hang of getting up on his own. I think this will be an awesome season.

It is super tight, ughh. Alright well now looking for a rack, any thoughts?

You looking for a surf rack, wakeboard or both? Have you considered adding removable surf pockets to your bimini? If you're looking for surfboard storage here to say I freaking love having surf pockets vs racks on the side. Ronix makes a removable surf pocket/carrying bag that might be something you're interested in and will hold boards fine. It’s a safer and more convenient way of carrying boards IMO.

How come no one has talked about this before, lol. I just order socks for the boards on Black Friday, it appears I should have purchased this instead. :banghead: I’m assuming this stays strapped tight and would work with the bimini up on your old boat? If this would work this could be a game changer as my kids just got giant 37’ Body Boards, the whole time I’m thinking where and I going to put these on the boat, lol. From what I read I think these might fit as well. Let me know your thoughts, I included a link with the dimensions.

I always did like the way this Centurion was set up with bimini top board pockets and racks. If I recall, all I ever saw in the racks was drying laundry.

That's a tough break, I've been there. I bought 2 wakeboard racks thru my dealer when I bought my boat, then realized the surfboards weren't going to fit and bought the OEM surf/wake racks a year later.

Do you happen to have the measurement of the spacing between the forks? I'm wondering if the 2020 Coasters, being a bit thinner, would actually fit. I'd be interested to know for future reference.

I have seen it talked about in other threads from time to time. I'm not sure I've known anyone here to have purchased one. It might be a good fit for your circumstances. Make sure you search it out and read as many reviews as you can. I searched around and read a few. A few complaints I heard were that it was bigger than it needed to be and uncertainty about speed of travel with it attached. On Buy Wake, it said not to exceed 20mph in the details. If you do go that route I'd be curious to hear your review.

You could also take your bimini to an upholstery shop and they can make you some custom surf pockets sewn into the Yamaha fabric. Several people have gone that route on wake boat forums I browse. Of course it would be more expensive and a permanent addition just how it is on my Moomba's bimini w/ integrated surf pockets but you wouldn't have to worry about it coming loose at speed or not fitting just right. I have not ever used the Ronix ones but as mentioned read up on reviews and such and double check dimensions will work. The only drawback to surf pockets on the bimini is that you can only use them when you use the bimini but that's an every outing thing for us so it's a non-issue. Very rarely do I not deploy the bimini.

Exactly. If we had racks it would be for hanging towels and life jackets lol. You can see in my pic where we have a life jacket drying out wrapped around the tower lol. Surf pockets just free up space and takes the worry out of damamging expensive or fragile boards from real nice fancy racks that aren't in the $3k range.

I think I’m going to go with another rack, then I don’t have to worry about how to strap it down. I’m just not sure it would work as I don’t know where you would strap the front down on my bimini (also the 20mph limit doesn’t sound great). At the end of the day my boards are not super expensive so I’m not overly concerned about them being damaged in the rack. The bigger concern for damage is when transporting the boards to the water, hoping the socks do the trick. It appears the monster rack is the best bang for the buck. I will get that measurement on my current rack this weekend, with the holidays it’s been a little chaotic.

Sorry it didn't work out the easy you originally planned. I think new racks are probably the best/easiest way to go too.

Not a problem on the measurement, just whenever it's convenient. Thanks!
