Just put a deposit down on a 252XE - was tempted for the better color scheme and power of the 255XE but ultimately decided I didn't want the worse range/gas mileage for 5-7 MPH top end. Rough expectation is October / November. I'm in the Northeast so won't be used until next spring.
Does the 252XE have the “drive control/drive by wire”, push-button wakebooster and ballast?? I can’t seem to find that info anywhere....if it has all three that is a pretty good value......

Only D models have the Drive system. It should have the ballast system though. It is an X series, though i dont see a 252xe only a 252se witch wont have ballast

Look under wake series....there is a 252XE

you are talking about “DRiVE”/Paddle controls on the steering wheel, I am talking about “Drive Control” which is the E-series throttle-by-wire.

The “e” are supposed to be Drive Control, the “D” series adds “DRiVE”.....confused yet????

I just took delivery on a 2021 195s yesterday. Totally newbie here!!
Blue or Grey? The new wood grain look of the SeaDeck looks sweet.

showed my wife the pictures of the 255 -- her reaction was that we're VERY happy we bought the 2020 AR240.
Same here, glad we bought this year - don't like the colours for '21 and also it seems us poor Canadians are going to get screwed with tariffs for new boats soon thanks our dingbat prime minister.

Got the return/trade of our Glastron worked out. Now we have to decide on the new boat. They have a 2021 212s in White/Grey they will do for $60K OTD. We can get that now.

Or we can wait a week or two for a 195s in Grey/Black Cherry for $44K OTD. I am going to tell him tomorrow morning our decision. We are going back and forth.

We are not a big family and even our old 15’ SeaDoo Challenger wasn’t bad for us. The GTS187 seemed almost big. Then again having the extra capacity for 2 more people is always nice if needed, just not sure how often that would be. As our kids grow, they’re 11, 14 and 15 now, it seems it might be nice to have the 21’. Then again in another five years or so, we may not need the bigger boat at all.

The extra price difference isn’t a big deal, it’s all the extras such as extra sales and property tax, more expensive lake fees and more gas with two HO motors.

Our SeaDoo featured two motors and we had no issues over 6 years. However, two motors means two the chance of a problem

I know many on here have loads of experience across the Yamaha line. Can you give me your feedback? Is it worth all extra cash outlay for the extra 2 feet and 2 passengers?

I’m leaning 212s as I am tired of waiting. Seems a 195 would be easier to sell down the line versus a 212 because of the price point? Is this true?

Been waiting for a 195 this whole time and now thrown this curve. Brain on overload. Any help is appreciated!

The 2 engines can sometimes be a blessing. Having a 23' Challenger with 2, I have had to shut one down on a couple of occasions due to overheat warnings but was still able to limp on one back to the dock. That being said, I am also looking to trade down but that is a thought in the back of my mind.

I never understood Yamahas pricing for the 21ft line. So the 212 includes the 1.8l engines. But for a few grand more you can buy the 25ft (AR240.5). I had a 2012 AR210 and am now moving to The AR240.5 I’m mean AR250. I guess if towing or storage is an issues then the 21ft would be better. Between the two its hard to say cause you’re talking $15k difference. You can buy another toy for $15k. It all depends on what you want to do with it but if you already have teenagers I’d go with the 21ft or wait for the 25ft/24.5ft.

I agree 110%.......212 vs 250.....a few thousand more and added 2 person (legal) capacity AND the new style transom (even if the seats are fixed on the AR), and the head/larger storage room....

The only thing that I’m torn about is the 212 will probably fit in my garage.........

For 2021 the SX250/AR250 barely climbed in price. The rest of the lineup (252, 255)? Ouch.......

Anyone know if any of the models have finished compartments? I hate that crappy carpet in my current 240!

I forgot about the larger head/storage. You couldn’t put a Porta potty in the AR210 storage area, I had to put it in the ski locker and take a dump right in the middle of the boat while the wife laughs at me the whole time! Boating after chipotle doesn’t mix! That right there should be reason enough to get the 24/25ft.

Haha the whole reason “head space” is number one on my list for our boat shopping next spring (#1A is HP)

When I get the urge to go, I gotta go!

Frankly I haven’t eliminated the other two jet brands as their 24/25ft models have An electric pump-out head as an option......

I hear you. The 212 is already large for our family. The 250 line model I would want is more than just a few thousand more. I would only go with the top engine package and I pretty much would only want to go with the most loaded too. That is why we are going with either the 195s or the 212s. Thank you so much for the input!!

I looked closer at the 25' line. I didn't realize the AR250 featured twin 1.8 HO motors. I thought you had to go to the 252 to get that engine package. So I do not exactly understand what you actually get for the extra $14K by going from the AR250 to the 252s. It's only two grand to go from the AR195 to the 195s and less than three to go from the AR212 to the 212s. What gives?

That said, we have worked a deal with our dealer. They are throwing us $10,000 over published trade-in on the Glastron GTS187 we want to get out of. To make that deal happen we need to execute a deal on a new Yamaha. That leaves the 212s they just got in or the 195s they are expecting in the next two weeks. Either way, neither model will fit in our garage like the GTS187 did. That was a huge reason I sought out the GTS187, supercharged jet-power and just squeaked in the garage door. I've always loved the AR195, but I really like the idea of two motors. I understand the price jump from the 195s to the 212s because you get another 1.8L HO motor which has to run at least $10K, probably more, just by itself. Add in the extra 2' of hull and $14,000 seems about right.

There are less expensive 21" boats that are nice like the Chaparral and Cobalt. Cobalt is a customer of mine and I strongly considered them, but then I wouldn't get the compensation for my Glastron being out for a year and would have to sell it outright on my own. I am excited to be a Yamaha owner.

How did you like your Glastron/BRP?

Any issues with it? That looks like a nice smaller boat. What did it seat comfortably about 6-7?

Follow this link and click the "compare" on the boats you want to compare the features of. It will give you the full specifications if each for you to do a full cost comparison.
