Talk to me about Buffalo, NY

Welcome to "The Great White North"...lol
It is more about what tires you are running than the AWD/4WD vehicle they are on. That Chevy has a narrower tread footprint than your Rivian. I can see from the tracks the Chevy is making good contact and are probably snow tires.
When I had an 8' plow on the 06 2500 Duramax, I ran Cooper M/S series, studdable, but not studded. Never had issues starting or stopping.

I am sure the interior of that old Chevy does not compare to the Rivian.
Talked to him this morning. Still the same crappy All Season tires I had on it. Although he said he's got an appointment for Saturday to get snow tires fitted. I got that truck stuck in wet grass a couple summers ago on those same tires. I'm surprised he made it much of anywhere. With that said I'm sure it's experience, patience, and lots of weight in the bed.

You're right though. The heated seats, steering wheel, and Spotify tunes were nice to have this morning :D

@zipper here's the backstory on the old girl parked next to the bougie EV :D Not really a tow rig.....BUT......New to me pickup

Plus I’m sure your boogie Ev has great traction control and optimized driving modes for slippery conditions.
It has a "snow mode" that locks the motors in AWD, and I could hear some of the traction control working this morning as I was "testing" the surface traction in the neighborhood before heading out onto public roads. Bougie EV has 3 peak rated All Terrain tires on it, which have some of the siping you're talking about.

I think you can shorten the nickname to BougEV and be even trendier.
I like that.

The truck will let me "name" it in the app. I've been going with 0VR1T since I got it.....as in "Over It". Coworker came up with that when I was talking about trading in the 0FsQ7 (Zero F's given Q7), and being "over it" with oil burning and maintenance.

I'm liking the BougEV too though!

Buffalo is kicking my butt. Got another 12in last night, and it's still snowing. Who thought this was a good idea? Should've moved south with @Babin Farms

There was dry pavement and concrete here when I went to bed :(

This table was clean as well. Had to clear a new area for the dog to do business outdoors this morning.

Had to "dodge" the snow plows on the way in as well. This is all SOOO foreign to me. Feels very surreal.

I warned you early in this thread...in VT., it is illegal for plow operators to push snow out into the roadway.

@2kwik4u Embrace the WNY snow. You have been given lemons. If you and the family have not gone sledding or tobogganing yet, you need to head over to Chestnut Ridge this weekend. One of the best sledding hills in the area. Get there early. I bet it'll be packed this weekend. The snow shoeing and cross county skiing is also great.

Thanks for the links. Chestnut Ridge is about 3mi from the house. We'll definitely head over there and check it out.

Oldest wants to learn to snowboard. Have to think this weekend will be a madhouse to try to learn, but we might check that out as well.

The sledding hill should be pretty crazy. If you need sleds or tubes, get them ASAP. The stores in the Southtowns may sell out Saturday morning. Generally the ski/snowboard section is separate from the general sledding hill, and not nearly as busy. If the oldest has a board, then it's a good place to work on the basics. Once the basics are down, graduate to Holiday Valley or Kissing Bridge.

some of the mountains around here have great lesson programs that are really affordable and worth every penny. My kids and I could all snowboard circles around most people after our first year, because we all took lessons. It's a frustrating skill to learn on your own, and you can learn some bad habits.

Having lived in a snowy/icy hell for my whole life I can confirm that if you can find an outdoor activity that you enjoy it will actually make you look forward to snow - skiing, snowboarding, snow shoeing, snow mobiles, etc.

Indoor sports are popular in winter as well, there's bowling drinking, which is almost as much fun as ice drinking in fishing shacks out on the ice. Can ALWAYS catch your limit of brown bottle bass. I'd bet there's a curling team or facility in the area too.

It's quiet when it's snowing like that, one of the nicest things about the snow.

Looking at a snow maker for the living room, but I think the chatty roommate won't be so enamored with it, and it'll backfire on me

Almost couldn't have been MORE centered on us this time!

I was just reading about Eden getting their asses kicked with 12" in one hour this morning, and I thought uh oh, we know a guy in that area.....

it's crazy - Syracuse always used to get more snow than Buffalo until about five years ago. Now, we barely get any. I don't think we've gotten a foot in total yet. Nothing has stayed on the ground for more than a day.
