12 v "cigarette lighter" adaptor

Hi Everyone--
My 12V "cigarette Lighter" adaptor is not working to charge a speaker or run my Garmin. Possible it just needs a good cleaning or could there be another problem.

First: check the fuse...
 
Reset the breaker below it.

If that does not solve the problem get a multimeter and see if there is power to the wires at the back.

If there is power at the wires but not in the socket then you likely need to replace it.
 
Combining both suggestions since people sometimes don't know this - there's often a little fuse inside the plug end of the 12v adaptor. If it's not easy to determine how to access it, check the owners manual for how to access it.

Your having two separate items not charging points to an issue with the fuse for the 12v port itself, but I've seen people use Y-splitters on 12v outlets before.
