so I like the the 6 x 6.5 coax and dual 10" subs in the cabin... sound will easily over power the MR-1's at low cruise, however im looking for a little more punch out the back when anchored so im thinking about adding another pair of tower cans... the 6.5" coax kickers added a ton of sound out the back and feel they sound a bit better in the cans than flush mounted in the cabin... they just seem to lack lower freq response in the cans... so if I add a set of 8" coax cans with a bit more power do you think that would help the lows out the back ? I guess the other option would be something like wet sounds 8" free air subs in tower cans with kicker grilles cause kicker dont make 8" marine subs...

what have yall done?

Im not really interested in speakers at drunk level on the swim deck LOL

Im no help on enclosures but If your putting subs in cans or enclosure you dont want free air type. they are desined for not using an enclosure and being in an enclusure will cause your bass to suffer.

yea right ported bass vs free air... i think im gonna just go with the 8" coax cans ill run them with an amp that matches the power handling and go from there...

More bass inside the boat would best bet. The lower the frequency the less directional the sound is, so just getting more bass should be plan, doesn't matter where you put it.

interesting...

i was able to fix it... i just turned up the gain a bit on my pair of 10" free air subs and bam... the balance was good... Actual i had a buddy do it whist is was in the water behind the boat and then run the preamp out up to 2/3 throttle and its all good... money saved by all...
