Violating members, you know who you are:
-high level of ingenuity
-you have mechanical skills in spades
-your tool box that resembles a NASCAR garage
-you likely played with erector sets as a child

It really hurts the feelings of forum members like me when you strut out your MODs. Here’s the typical post, “hey I just installed a new flux capacitor in 30-minutes”. Yes, your MODs are cool. Yes, I enjoying seeing the art of the possible. Yes, I “like” your forum posts. Yes, I follow and always use your maintenance ideas, FAQs and repair suggestions. But my feelings are still hurt, because:

-my boat remains woefully stock
-I am stuck with a constant feeling of FOJMA … Fear of Jetboater Missing Out
-I have deeper feelings of jetboater inadequacy after reading about your impressive MODs

I do occasionally try to mimic your great work. But, you have to understand how your “flux capacitor in 30-minutes” gets inflated on my own DIY attempts:

-Google what is a “flux capacitor” for 2-3 hours
-watch 2-4 hours of YouTube videos of flux capacitor DIY projects
-spend 1-2 hours on my boat figuring out where my flux capacitor is located
-1-2 hours to run to the big-box home improvement store to buy a special tool to remove the part
-1-2 hours trying to figure out how my fat hands and wide-body will fit in the space to be able to reach the part for removal
-1-2 hours at my 1st-attempt at removal … which generally winds up breaking the existing part
-2-4 hours watching YouTube vides of how to remove a broken flux capacitor
-1-2 hours for the 2nd attempt to remove the original but now broken part
-30 minutes installing the “new” part … just like the violating member’s MOD post

Notable Members (and btw also very frequent post authors that hurt my feelings); @Julian, @Bruce,@txav8r, @Murf'n'surf, @swatski, @Ronnie, @jcyamaharider, @Speedling, @itsdgm, @robert843, @0627Devildog, @haknslash, @Andy S, @bronze_10, @Scottintexas, @Glassman, @Zarrella, @Cobra Jet Steering LLC, @ScarabMike …Perhaps you would consider some way to “flag” the offensive posts with an automatic warning, something like;

“by reading this post, you may suffer jet boater envy and your feelings of mechanical inadequacy will become heightened. If your toolbox consists of tools with clear plastic handles and was assembled from $10 emergency roadside assistance kits, then you may need to apply a Neophyte Factor of 20x to the estimated completion times.”

Violating members, thanks for carrying me on your backs. I have improved my skills measurably, but still have a long way to go. My boat runs better, because I’ve navigated mechanical waters, I’d previously never waded in w/out your assistance!

I feel honored to be included in the same list as some of these people. The @gmtech16450yz post about fabricating and entire new boat out of bailing twine and a paperclip was amazing! I just cut stuff up.. break it and then fix it like u mentioned above. Notice i never do step by step pics!

You, Sir, failed to mention (arguably) the biggest offender of them all: @Mainah !!!!
He gives many of us a real complex...

@Ilmmct I am very confused right now. Should I feel relieved that I was not mentioned in your list or should I have hurt feelings?

Love this site! I just stumbled on this thread right after reading about @gmtech16450yz 's throttle mod. ,Impressive. I was bumming about going into the weather outside, and glad I stayed inside to read this. Now I am also trying to type this while ROFLMAO like @swatski . Thank you, love your humor @Ilmmct .

Edit: I did have an erector set and take apart kitchen appliances and put them back together as a kid.

I was lazy, I scrapped all the members from a list of “notable members” I found on the site. @buckbuck, @Mainah, @gmtech16450yz and many others posts/DIYs regularly make me feel like an inadequate jetboater

To most "things" are just fine and dont need improving on.
To others its like this "thing" aint right, so how does it come apart and how can they make it better.
And some just cant stop modding, those few need serious help

Just wait I have 9 huge boxes sitting in my office full of off season boat mods still waiting on three more I ordered over Black Friday and still have not ordered trim tabs or a shower kit yet ugh.

I felt the same way when I joined and went OCD on my mod list. Gradually over time I started upgrading my plastic handle tools to do many cool things to my boat. Be patient and over time you too will become a modoholic!

And I forgot to mention that there is a support group for this condition. They meet a couple of times a year, Bimini and Shelbyville I think. Sadly I have yet to go.

Yep.
Now all we still need is a solid 12 step program.

just go out on the water a dozen times you will be just fine

This cracked me up! :D :D

Lol, just got my trim tabs, ordered the Lateral Thrusters, 2nd pump, and plotter. Going to be a fun weekend!

I fully accept that I am one of those violating members. I want to thank all of the others for all that I have learned from them as well. A big thanks for members like @llmmct for their witty humor.

Now I just need to get my narrow geek butt to that support group that meets in Bimini.

So what you're saying is a picture like this can be considered offensive, hurtful and even traumatizing?...

If those bother you and you like animals, you're REALLY gonna get upset at my animal head trophies. The black bear and the moose I bagged in Alaska...

Lol. Pretty funny thread btw. And I'm sorry, I know I can be a useful but frustrating guy to be around!

@gmtech16450yz i love that you have pry bars and hammers labeled appropriately right above the delicate tools just Incase those don’t do the job!

Well, well... That certainly explains some things! LOL.
This is getting X-rated.
