My in-laws do this. They started with vrbo then after one season book direct with the owner. We will probably do this when we grow up too. Having the flexibility to pick a different location and not having to “deal” with the remote property in the long run makes it compelling.Any advice would be appreciated. We are looking to place a deposit for a 30-60 day rental in Florida for the Winter of 2022. Best time would be (approximately) mid- January to mid-March. Thinking of the Fort Myers to Coral Springs area. Will take our vehicle or rent one so being right on the beach not necessary - just close enough to drive. Thanks
@mark_m .....thank you very much for the reply. I agree 100% with the advice. My parents had a beautiful condo in Fort Lauderdale for 18 years but like you said - it was a lot of money tied-up and the same location every year. Worked for them with the same friends and golf clubs but not so much for us. We have wintered for the last 14 years at different locations: Cayman Islands, Turks and Caicos, Aruba etc. Friends bought at Legends Golf Course in Fort Myers. They really like the area, so with C19 this year thought we'd stay in North America and look at Florida, Arizona and California. We have had friends who have rented voa VRBO then gone direct to owner to save the booking costs.
