AR195 tow hitch height?

I got rid of mine. I understand the concept of keeping the trailers short enough to fit in a garage BUT the longer the trailer usually the better it pulls. I have a hard time feeling comfortable with single axle trailers at highway speed, all I can think about is a sharp rock or a pothole exploding one of the tires and trying to get the rig stopped before it sways across two lanes of traffic. IMHO, if you are going to pull more than 50 miles a good investment is a tandem trailer if you have room to store it.
We almost went with a Chapparral because the offered a tandem trailer for their 19" models. That said we've probably towed our 195s 4000 miles +/- in less than a year, mostly on the highway with no problems.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with a single axle short trailer, I just felt a better solution for me was to switch to a tandem. The Shorelandr will certainly do the job AND fit in most garages which is a nice feature. Not knocking them just offering a different perspective.

Trailer should be within an inch or 2 of level. Using a level on the trailer.
the tongue weight is important to drop trailer sway.

Carlisle just sent me the second set of tires in less than 2 years. I just bought rims and radials, so brand new stock tires won’t do me much good. “Sorelander, or ShAtlander” or whatever you want to call them said go get my single axle trailer aligned. The dealer is having me bring the trailer in Monday so they can do a full inspection on the trailer. Something is going on to eat up tires. Either the stock tires are shat or the trailer is. Hope I have an answer next week. By the way I placed a level on my frame and it was perfectly level near the axle, but not level near the winch..

Hi all,
I'm a soon to be proud new owner of a 2022 AR195. I will be driving an hour to get it and want to make sure I have the right ball mount height on my Subaru Ascent. The top of the tow hitch receiver sits at 24" and 22" at the bottom. I'd like to make sure it's level when towing it home, but it's in a storage yard until I pick it up, so the dealer can't give me an answer to what that height. Any advice on the actual trailer hitch height when level, or proper ball mount drop if you have an Ascent would be helpful.

how did this work out for you ? I have a pilot and 2022 195s coming hopefully soon! I can't get the dealer to tell me anything about trailer hitch height ...

So far so good. The 6" drop was definitely what I needed, but my hitch is hidden behind the bumper with a cover plate that I have to remove each time. So that's probably why it had to be so drastic. Turns out the stock hitch that Subaru supplies is also a 6" drop.

I also just changed my wheels out with new rims and radial tires then mounted one of the original wheels as my spare, so that added some additional tongue weight. Still pulls fine.

So how did that Subaru do towing the boat last summer? We need a new family hauler/tow vehicle.
