Bimini 2015 - July 6th to 11th

Last year we got very spread out.
It was very tough to tell if the last couple boats were still with us or not. (I stopped a couple times so we could regroup). I suggested two groups for SAFETY'S sake... NOT for the sole purpose of going faster.
It seemed as though the smaller boats had a rougher ride than some of the larger boats and i'm guessing that's why they were going a little slower...
The goal is to make sure we don't lose anyone as we cross.

How many are staying in Ft. Lauderdale for the weekend before we leave ???

Cindy and I plan on getting there on Saturday, might be late but hopefully in time to see the fireworks.

I have no intention of launching before Sunday. They want a boatload of money for a slip!

We are hoping to park with boat and trailer on the North side of Bahia Mar Saturday and then launch on Sunday.

I will be arriving on the 4th.. with @Bruce if we can work it out.

How's the casino on the north end of the island?
We went last year in the afternoon it was nice and we were the only ones there. Once the ferry comes in the casino will probably get busy.

We are planning on being down there the morning of the 4th. Looked into boat slips for the weekend, but slightly overpriced due to the holiday. They also said it is a minimum of two day slip rental because of the 4th. Ouch! Launching Sunday morning and hopefully going to explore the Fort Lauderdale/ Miami coast line for the day.

This is how we are going to look crossing to/from Bimini.

Speaking of the captains meeting... Any suggestions? I thought bokampers would have worked well last year, and then we ran headlong into some soccer game and bad weather on the way back. BahiaMar will not budge, they will charge us for a meeting room.
I think the captains meeting should be somewhere that is very convenient, i.e. within walking distance. With the size of this years group unless a restaurant has a private room for meeting/eating in then I think it will be difficult to conduct any sort of useful meeting in the general eat area. If the weather is nice then I'm in favor of doing the captains meeting at the Bahia Mar pool and if the weather is crappy then we could probably meet in the lobby (far east end) of the Marina tower at the Bahia Mar. After the captains meeting those that want to can go get something to eat.

Just my 2 cent worth, I'm open to what works for the group.

We are leaving South Carolina Saturday morning have not decided if we were going the full way down that day yet or not. Is everyone putting up in the Marina Sunday night or is anyone planning to launch Monday morning?
