Yeah definitely starting the prep now, sold the wife on the trip already, we were shooting for the first week in June. Going to check out the 24s at the next boat show, but I am not very optimistic that I will find the deal I am looking for or willing to accept for that matter...

Do not make a single boat crossing in a 192!!!!!!!!!

192s eat huge amounts of fuel. Just ask @ArmyChief.

If you decide to go with our group you will have the safety of knowing that other boats are there if you get in trouble.

Been toying around with the idea of a Bimini Trip for quite some time... Is there anyone on here that has actually done it with a AR192? Everyone seems to have 21Ft+, I know conditions seem to be the determining factor here but, am I wasting my time with the idea? I Would like some input from someone who has done it, or seen it done... Thank you
I took my AR190 in 2016 and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Sure you'll take a beating but it's 100% worth it once you're there.
The issue you'll have, like @Bruce mentioned, is fuel. The 190 sips fuel while yours will guzzle it. We burned 24 gallons on the trip over in what I feel were good seas.

I would not change the boat just for the crossing. It is hard to justify the cost. On top of that Yamaha will probably be coming up with a new design in a couple of year, so might as well wait to upgrade then.

still working on it @Jp127

I fixed the gelcoat damage on the port side of anchor compartment, but when it got cold the stbd side anchor compartment developed cracks while the boat was siting. I have also found a couple of other spidercracks, but I do not think they need fixing. Furthermore, last weekend I decided that my navigation lights are too corroded from the salt, so I am looking to replace for the bow and stern lights as well.

My Bimini experience live on !!!!!LOL

organizing a trip is not an adventure ? There are only 40 boats and 200 people you have to keep together

FYI: no worries the admin take care of everything actually. All you need to do is follow up with necessary upgrades and their suggestions. ;)

So good to see your name here @Speedling

I’ll table this thought. Should a bimini-A and Bimini-B plan be formed? The group is big enough and date matches have thier challenges.

And a safety statement could be argued for size per Group crossing

Lol i will let the normal people do their job. I think it works for more people just after the 4th due to school etc. I get my fireworks bonus after the 4th as well. But if it were early june, or even if i pulled my kids a few days end of may, it would be for sake of good weather and crossing only.

@Speedling, @justason generally speaking June is a really busy month in Bimini. Being the the busiest month of the year it is hard to fit in a big group. There also is the likelihood of being there when the Whalers are or just after when fuel and food will be scarce.

I prefer to be there when we have more of the water and the islands to ourselves.

The most likely scenario for 2018 is that @Andy S will take a group in late June that will not work for Speedling and I or another 2017 leader will take a likely larger group in July.
