I couldn't find what I wanted, so I decided to give in and try to fab something.

I found these mounts on Amazon.

Bought some aluminum tubing from Home Depot.

Drilled some holes for eye hooks and the mounts.

Got it mocked up.

Painted with some truck bed paint so it will last.

Got some pads and end caps off Amazon.

Final assembly.

Mounted on the bimini frame.

Board actually fits.

I may have to do some tweaking to the straps. I wish the cross bars of the frame were slightly closer together. I think I might add another strap down the middle connecting the other two to lessen the chance of the board sliding.

But for less than $70 I'm happy with it. And I don't have to purchase a $300 mount for the tower or step over the board in the floor anymore.

That's pretty slick! Do you have an amazon link to those brackets?

Love it! This would also come in handy for larger boards like ZUP 2.0 - those fit in my big surfboard rack but I wouldn't want it there if going fast, in rough water, etc.

I think the pads ended up about 46-47" apart.

Because I am not as creative as you guys I wonder how that could work on my AR240?

Very nicely done. It look great. When I first read you were putting it on the bimini, I thought to myself, oh that won't hold.....until I realized you were an E Series bimini guy!

Thank you.

You could use a similar design but something like this. Excuse my poor diagram making skills.

@F.M. That might just work.

Are there concerns with hanging extra weight on the back of the bimini?

I had a thought to use some cargo net in the same area and use it like a sling to put boards on. But then I was worried about additional weight. It might not seem like a lot but the fulcrum is at the bow end of the bimini.

Where did you get the square tube end-caps from?

Hmm, @F.M. I haven’t actually mocked mine up yet, but hadn’t thought about the rope dragging on the board. Can you post the link to those brackets that attach to the tower? Those look handy!
