Blue Angles - Pensacola, FL July 16th

I've got the family sold. Just debating on Friday or Saturday. Thanks for all the info @Scott griffith @ToddW850 !!

Friday used to be less boats but the last couple years it's been just as crowded on Friday. We like Friday because we can hang out on RobInson Island on Saturday when everyone is at the Angel's show

@Bennie are you guys boating over there through the ICW?

Yeah bud. Still debating on the day though. Leaning towards Friday.

Let me know what you guys decide, so I can keep an eye out. Depending on space, I might move a little closer south (toward shore) this year.

Sorry, working night shift and we've been slammed.

Anyway, @Bennie we are going to the Saturday show. I will launch the boat around 0900 hours from Joe's Bayou Boat Ramp in Destin. Takes me just over an hour to get there through the ICW. Puts me getting there between 10-1030. Last year was the first year we went by boat. Boats seem to congregate closer to shore, but we had plenty of space to anchor up. Went over with @Helipilot11 last year, but he's since moved :(

@Scott griffith we will be in the area in the photo below. Is this the area you are referring to? Blue Angels flew right over the top of us several times. I've attached a few more pics from where @Helipilot11 and I anchored last year. We had plenty of room around us to hang out and swim. It was very hot. Scott, if you change your mind, you know where we will be.

If you want to have a little excitement, head over to Little Sabine Bay after the Blue Angels fly. Leave the kids behind though.

Just got on this forum, just bought a new 242 LSE. We're planning on headed that way from Navarre Beach on Friday and again on Sunday.

I found this. http://fishingdestinguide.com/boatramps-saltwater-PENSACOLA.html
A couple of us will heading over from east Alabama (Dothan area) and looking for the best options to launch. Also, are you all set on a viewing location yet? We'll be going Saturday morning and should be in the area around 10:30-ish. Air show starts at noon, Blue Angels fly at 2.

Witch ever one you choose you better go early I like orlioe beach and Navarre Beach ramps but they fill you fast as well as the Navy point and ship yard and shoreline dr

Yeah I'm still lost on where to go. I couldn't care less about being near a beach. @ToddW850 @Westbeach Bum where's the best views?

I'm planning on putting in around 9 on Friday. Debating on either going out to the Gulf or riding the ICW from Wolf Bay to P-cola.

@ToddW850 - you're saying to get there early. Is it because the ramps fill up or because you run out of good places to anchor and watch?

We went on Friday last year. We left the launch around 8am (that was too early). We followed the ICW to Little Sabine Bay and watched the show there. The views couldn't have been better. When we arrived, there were very few boats and could have arrived as late as lunch and had a good spot. We plan on leaving the launch around 9:30 this year. Although the rain percentages went up to 60% for Friday.

Yeah I was looking at the same thing. Now I'm thinking Saturday. Especially since we're so far away from our ramp. If a storm hits there's no racing back to the truck. We're just going to have to ride it out.

What ramp do you plan on using @Bennie? This looks like a ton of fun. I'm trying to talk the wife into going, but it would be one heck of a long day for us.

From Tuscaloosa...heck yeah!

We put in at the top of Wolf Bay and would ride over from there. For your drive I would highly suggest spending the weekend over here. That's a long drive for just one day.

Yeah, four and a half hours each way with an arrival target of 8am doesn't lead to a happy wife. Haha.

I was thinking about coming down Friday night and heading back either Saturday night or Sunday morning. I need her to find some shoes or something that she wants that are only available in Pensacola. ;)

Ouch..that is early! There is plenty of shopping around here. We have a Field and Stream and Bass Pro for you (and the boat) and a huge Tanger Outlet down here for her. If that's not enough there's more shopping in Orange Beach at the Wharf. And if you stay even later Dierks Bentley is playing Sunday night!
