Chicago to St Louis run 5/4-5/5 Great Loop Run

I'm still waiting for @Andy S to call me and tell me his bride and him have picked up a pair of skis since they have sold the Triton and we are all towing the skis up and running it.

Looks like @swatski might be getting a promotion

:finger:
Don’t we already have this emoji? I am pretty certain it’s not the index finger.

Thank you, Captain Obvious.

I would not loose much sleep over it. We will find a way. I will be towing from Dallas and will be passing St. Luis on my way to Chicago. So one option is to go lunch your boat. Leave it there and come back empty to St. Luis. On my way to Chicago, you can ride with me.
Other option is you drive and lunch with all of us. We all ride to St Luis on the boat. I have 2 people who will be flying in and out from Chicago, so when they head back to Chicago you could ride with them to where your trailer is.

Depending how the crews work out ( see PM that I send you), I might have a spare driver, who basically will drive your truck and empty trailer from Chicago to St. Luis

im sure i could throw a friend a few bucks and have him just drop me and my boat up there.

I may be able to help. I’m an hour north of STL and could be picked up on the way north. I believe I’m leaving on Sat for a business trip so won’t be able to do the actual trip. I might be able to get my brother and I to help bring trucks back south after Friday launch. Definitely watching the trip and wishing I could participate.

Hoping for successful notes so the trip can be duplicated. :)

There will be a displacement speed trip in July;)

Yeah, I’m not sure I’ll have the patience for that... and no way I’m camping on my current boat. Lol

But you have the patience to wait for anothe year ????
You can always come on the second trip and around in circles. We can use the excitement.....

Lol, I just may do that! :D

We will get it worked out. I expect to rent a car in Chicago and follow people back to St Louis and then return to Chicago. @Betik are you going on both trips? If so that is awesome!

My wife has approved me for both trips, so unless something unexpected comes up, I should be able to make both trips. How often do I get to ride with legends ?
So basically, I think of the trips as an opportunity to learn how to manage my boat.

I agree for our crew to be able to roll with the legend @swatski really is awesome I really can’t thank him enough! I was years away from planing this stretch of the loop and for him to carry us is great.

You guys are funny.
Just keep in mind, no built-in beer tap in my dinghy, yet, but we may have @Mainah join so I guess there is hope....?

A couple temporary beer taps are possible. Just drop a couple of prechilled 1/6 bbl in the ski locker hook up the co2/regulator/long picnic tap, and fill with ice.

So I started to dig into this tonight and I think I will fly into Chicago Friday 5/3 and will arrive around 7am. For anyone bringing a boat to Chicago if you drop it off Friday I will gladly take a rental vehicle and follow you back to St Louis where we are finishing and bring you back to Chicago. Also I will have to drive back to Chicago for my flight out so I can return anyone back to Chicago to get you trailer.

Just looking into this thread..... There are 2 days planned....... you think that is enough? We did the great loop last year in Chicago and it was 68 miles and it took most of the day. Seems like a great trip and the sandbar activities may make everyone have a late start on day 2. :D
