Around $375 I think…..What did they get you at the shop for that?
Nice, thanks for the info!Around $375 I think…..
its a 6 hour drive up there for me, so I set it up in advance and I drop the boat around 1130 hours and its usually done by 0930-1000hrs the next morning .. they treat me like a king and I didn’t buy the boat from them.. was going to but it sold before I could pull the trigger. The tech who works on my boat leaves it cleaner than when I take it in and I take in spotless….
Works out well, they’ve got a great bbq place in town..
Beautiful boat!!It was a long wait, but we finally picked up our new boat in Rochester on April 1st. Spent Sunday getting acquainted, figuring out where things will go and fired it up for the first time. We also practiced installing the bimini and mooring cover… which took a minute! Here in WI, I think we’re still a few weeks away from launching, but will be working with my 12 yo grand daughter to install the bow roller, bow steps, keel guard, trailer guides and battery charger. This summer will be about teaching her, my daughter and SIL how to launch, recover and maintain her. We’ll try to squeeze in some fun along the way!View attachment 232915
Thanks for your thoughts on the bow roller, I was thinking about how to do that in my driveway. This trailer came with Rainier radial tires with an 81 mph speed rating. Rainier is a GY brand, but made in a Chinese factory. Since we typically launch about 20 minutes from our house, the 3.5 hr trip from the dealership here is likely the longest trip this boat will see!Beautiful boat!!
Just FYI on your bow roller, no need to do it at the launch. Unbolt the bow system from the trailer frame and "scooch it up" (how you like that 'sconnie reference?) and then do the swap. The use the winch and a rubber mallet to scooch it back into place.
Add "swap out china trailer tire bombs for Goodyear Endurance radials" as part of your upgrade list if you're towing a lot. You won't believe the difference (and peace of mind).
Nice upgrade on the tires from the factory, Yamaha must be listening to their customers. Thanks for your thoughts on the bow roller, I was thinking about how to do that in my driveway. I just jacked the trailer up, placed a couple of blocks of wood with some padding on top, and lowered the trailer until the boat sat up a couple of inches above the roller. Replace the roller, jack the trailer back up, kick the blocks out and you are done. Thanks for your thoughts on the bow roller, I was thinking about how to do that in my driveway. You got me thinking… doesn’t happen often, but would blocking under the bow and then lowering the trailer jack accomplish the same thing?I just jacked the trailer up, placed a couple of blocks of wood with some padding on top, and lowered the trailer until the boat sat up a couple of inches above the roller. Thanks. We waited a long time for the planets to align on this one. It’s almost perfect. If I were ever to buy another Yamaha that’s the model and color I’d want - beautiful!!
The Ridesteady install is very straighforward. I used a combination of the video from Captain Mike (FWIW,
I’ve had two valve lash checks, and both times valves were in spec. But, most of my hours come from trolling.. I’m just a couple of hours below 600 now, so I’ll be making the journey once again up to Bismarck to Vallely Sport and Marine to get them checked. Yes, I can do it myself but, to keep the warranty up (expires July 2025) I take it to the dealer to have them checked.
Please provide details on the ride steady install!
Great idea for the T top and water shedding! I’ve gotten a few doses of ice cold rain water down my neck before I learned to make sure I have my rain hood up before stepping onto one side or the other!
If you have not done so yet, be sure and check the bearing cones… I have two sets of O rings on hand when I do that in case I mess up one or two. Suggestion on that, once you have the cones filled with grease, do your test install without an O ring installed otherwise you’ll get push back from trapped air pressure.
Where will you be boating? Me, @SCP1 @OB WI and @midwest22 get together on Lake Wisconsin and the Madison lakes pretty regularly. Thanks for your thoughts on the bow roller, I was thinking about how to do that in my driveway. Btw, how's the milfoil situation on those madison lakes these last couple of years? We were down there in 2023 and it was pretty bad.Where will you be boating? Me, @SCP1 @OB WI and @midwest22 get together on Lake Wisconsin and the Madison lakes pretty regularly.
Typically, we launch from Marshall Park on Lake Mendota and drop anchor near Picnic Point. Occasionally, we’ll visit Monona and Waubesa lakes.Where will you be boating? Me, @SCP1 @OB WI and @midwest22 get together on Lake Wisconsin and the Madison lakes pretty regularly.
I probably explained it badly but that is what I was trying to sayYou got me thinking… doesn’t happen often, but would blocking under the bow and then lowering the trailer jack accomplish the same thing?
There was definitely some cloudiness to the water the couple times I was on Mendota last year, can’t speak much about the other lakes last year as far as milfoil goes. Two summers ago we went through the lock from Mendota down to Waubesa and back, didn’t notice any milfoil problems on that trip.Btw, how's the milfoil situation on those madison lakes these last couple of years?
