Cobra Steering MAGNUM vs ULTIMATE

And those control settings will work on any twin engine with or without any steering modifications, so if you want to impress people at the dock you can if you learn how to work your controls independently you only need independent controls. Most Yamaha twins have those , a few of the earlier ones did not.

I have the Magnum AK (no fangs) and Lateral Thrusters. I don’t think this boat can get any better.
I didn’t have anything for the first three years, which probably made me a really good jet boater. Now with AK magnums and LTs- i feel like a pro maneuvering the boat at low and high speeds. Best two things - having Some control coming off plane, and using lateral thrusters to swing boat back and forth lining up skiers perfectly when getting ready to pull them.
 
Let me point out a few very important items . regarding @dzeppos comments.

"I have the Magnum AK (no fangs)" Now The Magnum A K has been upgraded to the SUPER Magnum AK steering , providing the same high speed influence as the original system while adding even more slow speed, no wake and docking influence automatically as soon as the boat comes off plane. " After checking the records of your purchase you already have the Super Magnum Fins so no need to upgrade there."
"and Lateral Thrusters." Yes I am glad you brought that up, some people do mix them and I find that interesting since people are being told the L T's are not compatible with my system. Next point on that is the LT's take away some of the usable reverse thrust to push the boat sideways, Mega fangs do not reduce the usable reverse thrust they actually capture and direct more of the reverse thrust and put it to work for better stopping, better turning in reverse REAL REVERSE and more power for backing against wind and current, along with the benefits produced when being used in forward, slow speed control is improved, high speed control is amplified and tracking is better as well. This also reduces speed bleed off in turns. And after all that the price is considerably less. The AK mega fang plus twin engine system is only $220 complete includes free priority mail. And you can still slide your boat sideways in to a dock if you deploy the throttle maneuvers previously mentioned.

" I don’t think this boat can get any better." Yes it can, however if you like how you have it and it is doing what you need it to do then enjoy the boat.
Try doing an S turn OFF power.

" You did have the benefit of the articulating keel and at slow speeds it helps, prior to the keel people with these boats were constantly contacting me in desperation saying the famous line, " If this steering does not improve this boats handling I am selling it and I don't care how much money I loose!"

But keep in mind there are more levels to achieve and this is what I am saying if it works for you great! but if people are trying to understand the options , the features and the benefits VS cost , reliability, negative side effects "if any" Ease of installation and price .
I am always improving the jet boat handling and improving on the available systems. it's my baby I am the innovator and I enjoy making improvements and adding more features to my steering systems and there will be more to come.
So thank you for posting and for using my Magnum A K steering system. If anyone with the original Magnum A K system else gets a notion to upgrade to the Super system you can actually purchase the super fins separately for only $59 dollars shipped in the U S A and change them rather easily. The Super fins have the larger top portion for even more slow speed influence in forward and reverse. And you can still use your LT's with these new fins on your model year.
