Commander's New Tow Vehicle

Sweet truck. Do they make 18" drops so you can hook up the boat? LOL.

I can barely fit my F-150 in most garages around here, I'm hesitant to even level it.

Is that 8' bed or 6' 3/4"? Looks like SWB bed so that's 15k max tow with proper hitch (check to make sure you don't have a class III hitch like many come with).

Looks sharp.
It is the 6.75' bed and you are correct regarding the towing capacity. I was looking at the F350 spreadsheet. The maximum towing capacity is 15,000. The hitch is a Class V with a 2.5" receiver.

I know you are only towing a 6k lb boat, but don’t kid yourself about the towing capacity with your 6 inch lift and larger diameter wheel/tire combo. Both completely change the geometry and decrease your ability to accelerate, brake, and control a heavy load. That said, your Yamaha will be well within that truck’s limits.

The truck was lifted and altered by SCA Performance, who has the distinction of being one of the only companies, perhaps the only company, in the U.S. that is approved by Ford to lift their trucks and still maintain the manufacturers warranty. SCA Performance states in their Vehicle Warranty Manual that "load capacity is not altered by the lift kit" and "factory suspension and steering geometry are maintained with the addition of an aftermarket suspension lift system." Of course, I suppose this statement depends on how you define "factory suspension and steering geometry." I honestly possess very limited knowledge of lift kits or the effect of lift kits on geometry or towing capacity and one of the first things I learned as a young lawyer was...if you don't know what you're talking about, don't open your mouth. The good news is it is a moot point for my purposes, however, because I own three trailers with the boat trailer weighing 5,200, the toyhauler weighing 5,000 and the two jet ski trailer weighing 2,500.

Spending the money he spent I am sure he bagged the rear end to eat any sag. I am 99% sure all new 3/4 tons and above have class 4 or class 5 hitches. Even the “ Tow ratings on the new 1/2 tons are up there.

now you just need a bigger garage lol

I actually did not have to install airbags because the boat trailer only lowered the rear end 1/4" and the toyhauler resulted in no sag due to the use of my weight distribution hitch. And you are correct, the truck has a Class V hitch.

Thing looks sweet! But dang 6"? That has to ride like a box of dicks.

I'm very happy to report that I have no idea what a "box of dicks" feels like ???. However, the truck rides very nicely.

IDK.
I think it is okay to comment on tow ratings - in a tow vehicle thread.
I wonder if those "tow ratings" have anything to do with reality given lift/suspension mods (no matter the hitch ratings).

@Commander50 you’re are a lawyer, maybe you can elaborate. I never understood those issues, I know the insurance will pay for damages no matter who did what within the coverage limits but civil liability can exceed any kind of coverage limit.

--

I can't help you here. I'm a criminal defense attorney and I don't know the first thing about civil law or civil liability as it pertains to aftermarket modifications on trucks. I'll just have to ensure that I do not cause an accident.

Idk I think she looks sweet!!! Those new 6.7 Power Stroke diesels are locomotives too. The only downside I can see are drive thrus and parking garages.

You are correct. I lost my garage parking at home, my garage parking at work, and the ability to ever again drive into a building. It is still worth it...the truck has 962 foot pounds of torque!!

Hadn't even thought of parking garages. My stock height 1500 can barely fit in some of the ones around here (I've touched a beam with my hand through the sunroof while entering a garage a number of times). No way this would fit in there.

I don't even attempt it. The truck height is 8' 2".

That is one badass looking truck! So clean looking, not gaudy. Congrats.
Thanks. I'm going for the all black and white "Stormtrooper" look. I'm incrementally powder coating all of the chrome.

I had to go to an Anderson Hitch with a 10" drop for the boat trailer but for my toyhauler which rides very low to the ground, I had to buy a Curt shank with a 14 and 1/2" drop for the weight distribution hitch.

Nice to seem them outfitting them with proper hitch from the get-go now. Enjoy the ride man it looks great and I think my next truck will be white as well.

I didn’t realize it until I just looked, but “ SCA” appears to be one of those companies that pretty much customizes the entire truck in terms of Suspension, looks and performance. pretty cool!. I’ve heard of like “ Rocky Mountain” and a few others that do this, it’s a pretty neat concept, and it seems to be a growing one at that.

So that makes that a really special truck, Gratz Man!!

if you don’t mind where did you get it? Like what Dealer?

Hah it's a small world!! SCA Performance is literally right next to my work and they do a lot of these conversions for the OEM's. We see the stock vehicles come in on large rack trucks and the lifted or customized vehicles roll out (and get road tested behind my work service road lol). They make a lot of them with nice Black Widow stuff. I very likely could have seen Commander's truck before and after but never knew it :D

Red arrow is my truck and parking space :D. you can see in the SCA Performance side of then road all the stock trucks and vehicles waiting to get customized. This was the same building where Choo-Choo Customs (1980's era) and Southern Comfort customized trucks (1990's-early 2000's era) used to be made back in the day.

I know some of y'all had to have seen some of these growing up. These were made here in the same building lol.

To my knowledge there is like 10 company’s or so that do this sort of thing, Saleen, Roush,Rocky Mountain, Hennessy, and a few others. They really are special vehicles. Congrats again Man!!

the Minatour conversions on the Ram 1500 are pretty cool as well as the 5.0 supercharged Raptors. I don’t remember the companies that do those, a google search would probably tell.

2019 Ford F250 Super Duty, 6" lift, 20" SCA Performance Black Widow wheels wrapped with 37" Toyo Rough Country tires, ICI off road front bumper. 18,000 pound towing capacity.
Congrats. ?

I had a Chevy 1500 with a 12” lift, 37s, and 5:13 gears when I bought my first ar230. I thought that truck was a beast til I hooked up to the boat. Switched to a stock 2500 shortly after

I feel you, I had a 02 Chevy 1500 with a 6” lift on it.. had to haul a pallet of wood pellets “ 1 ton/2k pounds “ 2 miles... I went nice and slow and prayed I didn’t break anything.

next truck, 14,Ram,2500,6.4 mega cab, hauled the same load over 200miles, it was like it wasn’t there, truck just didn’t care. HD”s are truly meant to be worked, where as half tons have a limit but ride like Cadillacs

I bought the truck at Gosch Ford in San Diego. SCA Performance seems to have an authorized Ford Dealer in every major city. You can either buy one off the lot that the dealer spec'd out or you can custom order a new truck and the truck will be shipped directly to SCA Performance from the factory to be modified.
